October 2023 Detroit PPM Ratings

Post by Marcus » Tue Oct 31, 2023 5:22 pm

The Sports Station is all the way up to a 10.1 and WLLZ is down to a 2.3 which might be it for them. I also noticed that 910 WFDF has a 0.4 rating.

The Sports Station is all the way up to a 10.1
Forward down the field,
A charging team that will not yield.
And when the Blue and Silver wave,
Stand and cheer the brave.
Rah, Rah, Rah.
Go hard, win the game.
With honor you will keep your fame.
Down the field and gain,
A Lion victory!

Wait. A 10.1 plus a 2.4(?) Stream? Good for a 12.5?

Nice rebound for WWJ, especially when adding their streaming share. Even WJR moved upward. Perhaps college football helped each station?

I believe this is a new record high for The Ticket, and it might be one of the highest PPM shares ever for any Sports formatted station nationally.

A big dip for WOMC. Audacy's engineers need to get off their butts and fix the audio glitches. I'm still hearing hiccups on both the analog and digital FM broadcasts.

97.1's rise corresponds perfectly with football season.
The slide continues for WLLZ. I love it! :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol

You know the rest:

Chris Huff of Radio-Insight wrote that this was the highest AQH share earned of any programming to ever air on 97.1 FM in Metro Detroit.

Which is saying quite a bit considering not only WJOI, but other teams championship runs over the years. No small feat.

WBZ-FM in Boston pulled a 10.9, but does not show any streaming number like 97.1’s 2.4 stream. I believe 97.1 stream is the largest by far nationally, any format. We love our sports here in the metro Detroit area. No word on the WPON #’s.

WYCD slipped, despite losing their main competition.
I’m surprised WFDF is up to a 0.4 in such short time. Whether that will translate to revenue is another story. I’ve still only heard one local commercial, and it’s for channel 7’s news. I believe the national spots are barter (our insider correct me if I am wrong).

Funny thing is —- the competitors didn’t get lost … just went to 96.3-HD3….. so it’s hard to say if that’s being tracked (likely not) but it’s the most I’ve listened to an HD subchannel since I’ve been able to. lol

97.1's rise along with the Lions isnt surprising but whats surprising to me is its spot at the top. Yes, we're a solid sports town but honestly, only 1 of the shows is listenable for extended periods of time and even that one has prolonged bouts of "Holy shit this is bad."

You may be confusing your personal tastes with some sort "factual information" . Just because you think that way doesn't mean a large number of people do. And lets be clear there is no right and wrong when it comes to personal taste.

I never liked the Beatles but in all my decades of dislike I was never mystified by their success and popularity.

Lets be clear:
I'm not confusing anything. I meant it exactly as I typed it. And personal taste can absolutely be wrong. If someone were to say the Channel 2 morning block is the best thing that has ever been on in the morning or that Hitler was an amazing man that person would be 100% wrong.
97.1's rise is directly attributable to the Lions success and not to some sort of amazing personalities. This is evidenced by 97'1's ranking prior to football season. What do you think will happen to their #1 status when football season ends?
