P-U Country 93-1 is moving to...

Post by MWmetalhead » Wed Jul 26, 2023 7:53 pm

...WDVD HD3.

Probably a gimmick to allow them to claim to national advertisers that their ads will clear the Detroit radio market. Never mind the fact damn near NO ONE will actually hear this programming once it loses its analog FM home.

think anyone else will try country after this station goes Jesus?
WYCD will be pulling monster ratings after this is a done deal
I expect them to be in the Top 3 if not #1 for a while

I won't rule out iFart giving a country another try on 106.7. Coincidentally, the current morning host at Fake Wheels 106.7 is based at iFart's country station in Birmingham, AL.

If they get antsy about WYCD's numbers getting too big, such a move might happen.

Seems like the last time 106.7 tried country with the Fox, it failed big time. I don't know if it could be successful this go-around.

I just don't understand how it fails. Who doesn't want voice tracked, bland personalities, lack of local presence, minimal listener interaction, tight playlists, national playlists...what's not to love?

What's the source about the country format going to an HD signal?

Personal observation. It's already on the air. 96.3 HD3 previously did not exist.

There is about a 20 or 30 second delay between WDRQ, which has not broadcasted in HD in many months, versus 96.3 HD3.

MW you were 100% correct. They are now identifying as "New Country Detroit" Http://www.newcountrydetroit.com. 93.1 in the logo has been replaced with Detroit.
Also on air they are mentioning 96.3 HD3. Looks like the end is very near for WDRQ.

They're playing twofers of Morgan Wallen every half hour. No thanks. That's reason enough for me not to listen.

So by September 93-1 will be Family Life Radio and there will no longer be a CW 50. Is anything else expected to change in the near future?

Looks like the call letters will be WUFL according to their website. http://www.myflr.org

Listening to FLR online and they said to tune in tomorrow as we welcome a "large Community" to our family. Perhaps the change over will come sooner than later.

August 1 makes sense.

Some of 93.1's now former staff indicated the existing format would be kaput at the end of July.

Wonder if they'll dump the flavorless WDVD call sign on 96.3 and keep the much more historical WDRQ sign on the dial.

Oh, and get off my lawn.
Wellllll... la de frickin da
