I'm not a fan of "Wasting My Time" by Default, but I don't dislike it as much as the vast majority of singles released by Nickelback.

I disagree big time with you, 48125, regarding "Like a Stone" by Audioslave. Although not one of my favorites, I think that is a quality song.

WRIF also needs to play something from Aerosmith other than "Sweet Emotion" (which they play 1,000 times a week seemingly, including right now), "Mama Kin" or "Dream On." Might not be as annoying if the recording quality were better. There's not a remastered version of that song?

They still play plenty of 1987-1993 Aerosmith. It isn't uncommon to hear Dude or Livin' on the Edge.

Trapt (particularly their frontman) later became known as internet trolls on social media, using their band profiles to spread right-wing political posts and eventually got banned from all mainstream social media in 2020 because of how extreme they were. Their most recent album only sold 600 copies!

Default's not a bad band. Their song "Deny" was on the NHL 2003 soundtrack, so I heard it all the time there.

"Like a Stone" is actually a good song IMO and Chris Cornell's vocals are great.

I forgot about Default! Yeah I like that song. I've heard Dallas Smith was trying to stake out a country music career.

He's been quite successful in Canada, though his attempts to break into the U.S. market have flopped. I imagine you hear him a lot on CFCO and other Canadian country stations. Naturally, he's produced by Joey Moi.

I heard "Rockstar" on WRIF a while back.

Their producer (Joey Moi) went on to work with marginally "country" artists like Florida-Georgia Line and Morgan Wallen. Given that fact, I'm shocked Nickelback hasn't done a so-called "country" album yet. In that sense, Nickelback's success is partly to blame for the bro-country boom, another reason to despise them.
Remember Default, another Chad Kroeger protege? Their lead singer (Dallas Smith) became a bro-country artist under Joey Moi and has had quite a bit of success in Canada, albeit none in the U.S.

Taking My Life Away was a good song.

See, that's the bitch of being such a music need. Aside from Bob Seger, Foreigner and maybe one or two other bands, I can pick out at least ONE song that I like or can tolerate. The vast majority of mainstream rock around that time was terrible. Small Cock Rock. Shit like Trapt.

Weezer is meh to me. I do like some of Sum 41's music, at least it's not a whine fest like Yellow card and Simple Plan.

Their remake of Toto's Africa blows me away each time. Other than that, they are okay.

Suddenly, a lot of that generic sounding rock doesn't quite bother me as much. I think it has to do mostly with nostalgia. But I do expect more 00s gold selections here in the next few years, at a minimum in teriary. A7X, Coheed & Cambria, that kind of stuff.

And with any luck, a lot of the 80s butt rock will start getting put back on the shelf. Or in the drawer, I should say.

Ironically, I feel that way about My Chemical Romance.

That song forces me to change the station every time. Seemed like they always played that at fast food restaurants around 2000 all the time.
