Wild 106.7

Post by Steve79 » Thu Jul 04, 2019 9:57 am

Just noticed 106.7HD2 changed formats from smells like the 90's to rhythmic top 40 as WiLD 106.7. Also the oldies 106.7 Detroit's wheels HD3 is gone.
This wild 106.7 makes me scratch my head... They have WKQI, WJLB.... Isn't there a better niche/under served format they could have put on the HD2?

Yeah. The better niche format is the one 106.7 HD2 previously offered - Smells Like the 90's (a 90's rock format).

I've only had an HD capable receiver in the car for a few weeks, and that station was the only HD2 / HD3 music station I used regularly.

The "WiLD" format - which is completely unneeded in this market - should've been placed on an HD side channel of 95.5 MHz or 97.9 MHz instead.

106.7 HD3 has been experiencing audio issues forever. Even if it's gone for good, it's no big loss. Very similar programming is available on 104.3 HD2 and 94.7 HD2. Do we really need three separate HD Oldies side channels?

The HD3 is still there, or at least it was last night. However, it now uses the name "Power 106.7." Still Real Oldies.

With iHeart making a renewed push for Pride Radio in many markets last month, I'm a little surprised that hasn't ended up in Detroit yet. (I suppose that was just for Pride Month/the 50th anniversary of Stonewall and that push is probably over.) While it's a better fit with 95.5, I'd rather have it on 106.7 HD2 (or any other side channel) than "Wild" which, I agree, is redundant and unnecessary (whoopee, another place to hear Drake, like we didn't have enough already). Almost as bad as WYCD offering new/pop so-called "country" on its HD2 in addition to the main station. I remember Pride was carried on 106.7 HD2 during the "Beat of Detroit" era.
