Personal political opinions on news folks' Facebook pages

What do you think about news producers, reporters, anchors, and other news folks posting personal political opinions on their Facebook pages?

I've seen quite a bit of Trump bashing (most of which I think is justified) from people in the news, but I wonder how they can claim to be impartial when they admittedly and very vocally say they are against a certain person and political party.

What say you?

That may very well be the case, The Chief, but you think there would be at least the illusion of impartiality and an attempt to not be biased.

It goes like this:

Newsperson's Facebook page: Can you believe what Trump is doing on immigration? Unbelievable! There are no words! Totally disgusted!

Same newsperson's Facebook page five minutes later: Be sure to catch my exclusive interview with Donald Trump.

Never once, Nick, and that's why I've always admired you. I still don't know your political views and it frankly doesn't matter to me. I love everyone and respect them with no labels.

You are 100% correct that journalists can have opinions too, but it greatly discredits them when they say they are objective in their reporting yet air all of their opinions on social media for everyone to see. Realistically, more people probably see their political rants on Facebook more than their reporting.

I'm sure Dawn Jones is a very nice person. I'm sure she does her best, but it's difficult to see all her anti-Trump tweets and then try to see her as an objective journalist.

She has bashed Trump in the last few weeks more than she ever bashed Obama over the last eight years.

Was Obama perfect? Nope, but she never shared those sentiments over Twitter. Trump? Nope, but she has no problem pointing it out on social media.

I personally don't like Donald Trump. I did not vote for him. I bash him over social media as well, but I'm not expected to be an objective journalist.

I support Dawn Jones' right to speak her mind 100%, however I have a difficult time seeing her as objective and neutral.

I support free speech. It often reveals bias.

Bill Hewitt from WSGW constantly berates President Trump on his Facebook page. Never a sign of berating President Obama.

Hewitt posted a meme saying Trump was the first “special needs” President.

First, that’s offensive to the special needs community. Second, shouldn’t journalists at least pretend to be somewhat objective?

For a bunch of people who say you've given up on local media and don't watch anymore, I find it humorous that you have so many opinions about everything. I'd say the ones who have hidden political agendas are HL101 and his second account, R Bedell.

I don’t expect anything coming out of autoliar’s mouth to be truthful.

I don’t have two accounts. I have never and will never work in any capacity for a television station.

Bernie just drove Clinton to the left and made her look even more fake.

They should have ran Biden - which at least would been considered a workin' man's democrat.

Biden is on H*** problem, including his creepy non consensual crap. Did anyone see his rally where his first words were "Democrats and Independents! It's time we show that a divided government is not acceptable!" Nice sentiment, but why would he only address approximately half of the voters when calling for political unity? Fool.

Biden’s message in his first video was all about “American racism.” It showed the Charlottesville demonstration and called for shutting down that message.

I have no problem, neither does the Constitution, with free people expressing their opinions, including racist, sexist, and other non-popular speech.
