It's nice of 102.7 to turn off its IBOC interference machine!!!

Post by MWmetalhead » Sun Jun 11, 2017 12:11 pm

Since Friday, I've been able to pick up a fuzzy but very readable signal of WWWW-FM in the Birmingham / Southfield / Beverly Hills area in the car.

When 102.7's interference machine is turned on, I normally get ZERO reception of WWWW.

I'd be curious to know if anyone in western Oakland or anywhere in Wayne County has noticed an improvement in WWWW's reception this weekend.

Didn't even notice it was off. I can get a clear sig from WWWW in Pontiac as long as i'm pointing towards A2.

Their HD has been off for at least a month. I noticed it off when in the Mount Clemens area on May 10th.

It's been on intermittently during the past month.

Even with 102.7's I-Block emissions, my HD radio can usually pick up a mono-only version of 102.9 from Ann Arbor... almost never stereo, though. sadly, my other, non-HD radios get nothing of it.... but thanks for explaining why it's been coming in better lately :D

The only good thing about HD radio tuners is that they added a very thin selectivity filter to them and DSP so that you can magically tune-in the 1st and 2nd adjacent while the buzzmaker is going= same thing on AM, I can get 580 only on my HD tuner while within 40 miles of 560 Monroe- if only their analog went as far as their digital buzz, it would ALMOST be acceptable improvement, such is not the case.
