Jim Madaus Retires

Post by NS8401 » Wed May 31, 2017 10:23 pm

After 33 years here (and 42 total) he's done doing the weather on Detroit TV...

He'll be replaced by Karen Carter.

He always seems pretty decent on the air, but a real weiner in person and talking down to younger weather people to be.
Who was the lady DJ that had to work with Mad Dog Madus at 62? She would be good for the job?

I always found the weather inserts on channel 62 rather pointless.
C'mon iHeartRadio - do the RIGHT thing for once! Please cancel "Rover's Morning Glory" from WBFX in Grand Rapids.

Somehow I'm surprised that 62 manages to have the current CBS O&O package, minus the CBS 62/"CBSDetroit.com"/"(social media logos) CBSDetroit" bug, the intros and the copyright stamps. At least that's one area they're pretty good at.
For three days in January 2017 (15th, 16th, 19th) and one night in September 2017 (22nd), I managed to receive KDKA Pittsburgh from 202 miles away indoors!

Looks like WWJ-TV viewers will be seeing more of Karen "thunthine and theventy-thix" Carter.

Can't they get the lady who rode in the chopper over Dtown for 15 years?

You're thinking Jill Washburn?

Yeah, that would be an improvement. But I share MWmetalhead's view of the pointlessness of it all. When it comes to severe weather, I'm not going out of my way to check out WWJ or WKBD. Instead, I'm loading up WXYZ's radar on my phone or tuning into WeatherNation on WTVG ...

The "lady who rode in the chopper for 15 years" was Tracy Gary. Washburn was in the chopper for about 5 years. Both also did weather.

CBS 62 will always be a forth rate local station, the only thing they have going for it is CBS programming.
It's all about the money!

Where they are almost always tied for or close to first... insert fancy $ reference...

Compared to the visual abomination that's WJZ nowadays? That station and their CSD refuse to adopt the standardized look for some reason.

Yes, Tracey Gary. Is she in town anymore?
