My Father was born in London Canada and I still have relatives in Windsor and London, I remember listening to Top 40 on CJBK 1290 and CKSL 1410 when we went to London to visit relatives for Holidays and Family gatherings ,for some reason I thought CKSL were the better of the 2 stations anyone have any memories of the London AM Top 40 days.

I listened to CHLO 680 before they moved, which could be heard far and wide Days, and then 1570, which could be heard all over at Night until they let 1570s in the US go on at Night.

I rarely heard CJBK/CJOE and CKSL because of their DA patterns.

CJBK was Top 40 from 1972 up until 1987. CKSL was a very good Top 40 station although it didn't have the kind of signal that CFPL 980 or FM 96 had. It was very narrow and interfered with at night. In 1993 CKSL along with CFTR Toronto and CKKW Kitchener dropped the CHR format.

Art ,I remember when CHLO moved to 1570 and then CFTO went to 680 ,I was living in Roseville at the time and had a cheap Jade 6 transistor radio that was able to get 680 CHLO and later CFTR, I also remember the frequency switch for CKJD 1250 to 1110 in Sarnia in the late 70’s as well there were a lot of frequency changes in that part of Ontario throughout the years.By the way did the owners at CFTR use the same tower location that CHLO used?

CHLO and CHFI/CFTR both operated on 680 for a while, with 1000 watts Day. CHFI was 10000 watts Night. In order to upgrade to 50 kW, the owners paid the owners of CHLO to move to 1570. In between the move and the upgrade to 50 kW, I could easily tune WDBC 680 Escanaba in the Daytime by nulling out CHFI.

The CFTR transmitter is now on the South Shore of Lake Ontario, East of Hamilton. They were always in separate locations.

As they say, it's complicated.

I know this question is slightly off topic but did CKJD Sarnia have a 13 tower array on 1250 or 1110 and was CHOK ever Top 40?

I think it must have been 1250, but I heard 16 towers. The dozen plus sounds like a Day and Night array with one tower in common.
