Constant negativity
Re: Constant negativity
I am by no means a public figure, but I do have a public facing role in the company I work for, and thereby I am held to certain standards in the work that I do, just as everybody else does, and should be in the work that they do in the quality of that work.
That being said, if you are in a position that commands a certain amount of value, and dollars to go with that value, then, by all means, you should get it. However, you have to still show that value otherwise, you can be replaced very easily.
I’m not sure I truly need A person talking to me on the television to tell me exactly what’s going on, as far as the weather is concerned. But it is nice that they’re there.
In that, same logic, though, just because somebody has a pretty new mint, 1976 Chevrolet Chevette, doesn’t mean that it has any value to me.

I know for a fact that Kim Adams is making 250k a year… and that’s with ratings bonuses. 400k is an absolute joke. She has a producer who does most of her graphics. This is indisputable. I am sick of the lies being spread about talent in this market. They are all willing to sacrifice pay for celebrity. That’s a fact.

Constant Negativity... Oh, I don't know, probably because today's scaled down version of broadcasting hasn't really "evolved" in a good way. Sure, it's good from an efficiency standpoint, but falls short in a big way when it comes to what passes for talent, and quality.
"Don't you knock when you enter a room?"
Re: Constant negativity
Maybe because half of the people on here are probably in retirement with full pensions. They have a lot of time on their hands to watch the news and listen to the radio all day, with no worries about their next check. They have to find something to complain about. Don't blame them, blame the system.Newsman123 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 10, 2023 11:06 am This board is certainly a place to gripe and share opinions. But all I see is constant posts being critical of on-air talent in the market.

If you're an on air talent, radio or TV, have a thick skin, or cry harder.
It ain't a gig for sissies.

Re: Constant negativity
If it doesn't that's your own fault.
Working harder and putting in effort can ALWAYS leave you better off. Better educated, better respected by your peers, and more valued by an employer, even if it's not the one you're currently employed with.
The entire middle class (and those "less fortunate" too) would be better off if they realized that their future is their responsibility, not their employers and not their unions.
Re: Constant negativity
Because we can all win if we just work hard… if you work hard you too can become rich… want to be a millionaire? Just work hard. Everyone can be rich.km1125 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 19, 2023 8:08 amIf it doesn't that's your own fault.

That’s the trouble… there have to be losers even if 100% of us worked as hard as possible.

Are you certain you want to go with a guy who wrote that book to offer a socialist/marxist critique of the oligarchy that existed at the turn of the 20th century?km1125 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 19, 2023 9:25 amI think I read that paragraph in Jack London's book!Rate This wrote: ↑Tue Sep 19, 2023 9:04 amBecause we can all win if we just work hard… if you work hard you too can become rich… want to be a millionaire?
