Ah.. beat me to it Marcus. I was thinking that, they acquire 1130 and surrender 1460 to the FCC.

I'm really starting to think Sima is suffering from dementia. What is it with owners who bite off more than they can chew? While it would be *really* great having some decent AM stations on the dial worth listening to, I don't see Sima caring enough to do that. He does plug-n-pray radio exclusively. The problem with his stations, he seemingly destroys them all somehow. Yet, small stations like WION exist and do okay. In this age, Plug-n-pray" radio isn't going to cut it anymore. You have to have owners driven by passion for radio, not greed, in order to make it on AM now. Sima just doesn't have it. He'd be further ahead to sell off his radio stations and buy Taco Bells or Dollar Tree stores.

I'm not sure who is worse, Sima Birach or Roy Henderson.

Why should the FCC grant Sima a damn thing. He has been dishonest about his agreements to them regarding WPON. He has essentially lied to the FCC regarding what he promised to do in the numerous applications for silent extensions. I say fine him $10 Million dollars and throw him in the slammer.

I'd say they're equally a disgrace to radio IMO. Both seem to have delusions of grandeur, which, sadly, keep real radio people from possibly having a go at a station they could make well with. With all the iHates and Cu's owning the vast majority of stations (and running them into the ground at that, the real radio person has very few opportunities to execute their dream of ownership. THAT is what irks me about owners like these, AND the "big guys" as well.

Drove within two miles of the site yesterday. Surprise... nothing on air at 1460. Did not have time to actually drive to the site itself.

Well another update has surfaced dated April 3, 2018. It is a request to Extend SILENT STA:

https://licensing.fcc.gov/cgi-bin/ws.ex ... _num=22045

"AS PREVIOUSLY ADVISED TO THE FCC, STATION WPON WAS TAKEN SILENT ON 9/11/2017 DUE TO AN UNFORESEEN DISPUTE WITH THE LAND OWNER OF THE SITE WHICH PREVENTED THE COMPLETION OF THE BUILD OUT OF ITS NEW FACILITY (SEE CONSTRUCTION PERMIT / BP-20150330AAI). THE FCC GRANTED SILENT AUTHORITY WHILE THIS MATTER IS BEING ADDRESSED. THE LICENSEE HAS RESOLVED THE LAND ISSUE AND NOW PROJECTS THE STATION CONSTRUCTION TO BE COMPLETED IN THE NEXT 90 DAYS. UNDER THE CIRCUMSTANCES THE LICENSEE RESPECTFULLY REQUESTS AN ADDITIONAL 90 DAYS TO REMAIN SILENT."

Again, I don't buy this BS. It's time for this costumed clown to be fined and locked up and have his license shredded.

So, this is why all of Birach's properties are on perpetual STAs, apparently.

This latest application for an extension of Silent STA for 90 days has now been approved. Since the date of the original request was on 4/3/2018 which indicated as noted above the the land issue has been resolved and construction can move forward I calculate that the 90 days that have been requested will expire on July 3, 2018. Gentleman that's not much time therefore this thing is going to get interesting real quick

Not really. We're just going to keep seeing more of the same. The can will keep getting kicked down the road. No one is going to build a station that's going to prove to be a poor business investment.

Radio's downfall has been under-investing in its core competency and becoming distracted by delusions of grandeur by thinking development of a half-assed national digital strategy will somehow put it on par with the Facebooks and Googles of the world.

MW, glad you see the obvious. There is no money to be made with that license. The only way Birach (BBC) can cash out of his mess is to keep the license alive long enough to find a willing buyer. That would likely be a non-profit, because the commercial value of the property isn't enough to warrant the erection of the towers. That's the only practical explanation for what BBC is up to.

They should just hand the license into the FCC and be done with it.

But apparently, no one is coming forward to buy any of Birach's stations. There is a better chance of the license being cancelled outright than there is for someone to step right up and buy the station, especially if there is no FM repeater attached to it.

Lack of interest demonstrates my point on the value of the station; "There is no money to be made with that license." The only question is, how long will the feds allow BBC to drag this out. If they finally say, enough is enough ... it's over.

Hmmm...

From All Access
In other filings with the FCC, BIRACH BROADCASTING CORPORATION is donating Silent WVAB-A/VIRGINIA BEACH, VA and WBVA-A/BAYSIDE, VA to MMTC BROADCASTING LLC. The stations have been largely off the air for several years, and the FCC designated the licenses for hearing last JANUARY.”

For laughs I drove down Charms Road which is just west of Wixom road in Wixom which has been for years the only place I figured I could view progress at this transmitter and tower site. I got within eye site of where I should be able to view the towers when they are put up and only if they show above the trees. I have done this many times since 2010 and there was always nothing. But today I was shocked. I had to pull the car over off the road and stare. I counted seven towers. I believe I was seeing the top half of them so they show higher than I thought they would. Like I stated above I was on Charms Road which is west of Wixom road but east of the tower site.

Seven towers guyed and no before you ask there was nothing yet on 1460. It takes me less than 15 minutes to get to this site and if they were to go on the air I could get it at home and obviously in the car.

Google Map showing Transmitter site and Charms road slightly to the northeast on an angle.

At least there's some steel to feed the ham rig into for temporary resumption of operations. And something to take pictures of to show that there's progress. They have to get something on the air by September 12th or the license gets cancelled.

Might need to take a walk up the tracks and have a look-see.
