WOMC Christmas Music

Post by stopnswop2 » Wed Nov 22, 2017 10:56 am

Does anyone know what day the Christmas music is going to start?
Last few years its been the day before Thanksgiving. I haven't heard about this year yet.

I really need to be saved from WNIC's garbage playlist that gets worse every year.
WOMC's Christmas playlist has always been AMAZING. since 2013 I have had the station on literally 24/7 during the Christmas music.
Last year they started later than before and I was really pissed that I was stuck with WNIC's same 10 songs.

I'm hoping someone has any news on the date this year.

I want them to use their original Christmas music sprinkled in format but I agree... WOMC has had a fresher playlist with more interesting Christmas songs that WNIC never plays...

Since WOMC is now “An Entercom Station” any thought that they will NOT do Xmas music this year?

I don't see why not. Christmas music is ratings gold.

I hope it stays that way until mid-December if not through Christmas.

WOMC's all-Christmas playlist in recent years has stunk. I realize I may be in the minority with regard to that viewpoint. :blink

With 106.7's recent flip, WOMC is presently the ONLY non-Urban station on the FM dial not named WCSX playing the classics. It would be nice to continue to have access to 70's, 80's & early 90's pop music through the month of December.

Non-seasonal music before 1995 is pretty tough to come by on the FM dial these days. The format change at 106.7 has exacerbated that problem. A flip to all-Christmas at WOMC would make matters that much worse.

The vast majority of Metro Detroit cannot pick up a clean signal from 100.7/95.1 Cool FM or 93.5 WHMI.

Sucks to be you guys! Move to Ann Arbor (MW, I realize these are your old stomping grounds :blink )

Not only do I have clean access to WHMI, but Q106 and WIOT come in fairly clean. When I return back to Macomb County to see family, I cringe at what the FM dial is like there. I'm pretty sure I counted three K-Love translators.

There is a lot of Christmas music. Much of it good. Some of it, not so good. Seems like anyone can record a Christmas album. And, no matter how bad it is, it will get played on the radio. The only requisite is that the performer has to be someone well known. A well known singer, a well known actress, a well known hockey player, a well known spot welder --

WNIC of course plays plenty of non-seasonal music pre-1995, but that wont be until Dec 26th lol.

Last year, WOMC started mixing in Christmas songs with regular format on Thanksgiving and then went all-Christmas December 9th (had to look back on this board to get the date lol). It would be nice if they did that again imo. I like their playlist better than WNIC's. But in the mean time Im listening to WNIC because I like all Christmas now lol.

Where I am in the AA/Ypsi area, WHMI is a sloppy mess with WRQN (also classic hits) and I can get weak signals (which can get strong at times) from WLEN and both 95.1 and 100.7 Cool FM

Yup - I recall WRQN interfering with WHMI quite a bit on the south side of Ann Arbor (by the mall, for example) and also in Ypsi.

94.3 from Chatham used to blast into the area quite often years ago, although I'm unsure if that is the case today given the presence of the Family Life Radio translator at 94.3 MHz from Oak Park.

I suppose I should have mentioned I live on Packard, just east of Stadium, and I'm on the third floor, so a little creative null and I get a decent stereo signal from WHMI. If the conditions are right, I easily get 99.1 and 92.9 from Lansing. But never all three perfectly.

Looks like they have switched to Christmas music all the time as of 6am this morning.

Why does iHeartless have such a short playlist, with the Top 25 burned-out songs that you'll hear 3x a day? Would it be that hard to program a much, much larger playlist? WRVF and WNIC are almost in sync sometimes with the same doggone song.

Boooooooooo!

Time to remove WOMC from my presets for a while.

Wow. WCSX pretty much has the pre-1990's secular music lane to itself for the time being.
