Channel 40 in Detroit

Prior to WLPC, has any Detroit TV station ever broadcast on Channel 40?

I don't believe so... I remember WDWO-CD (18) used to be W44AR on channel 44 until 1998 or so, though....

While not in the Detroit market WKAR-TV in East Lansing operates on Channel 40 as its actual digital channel. I can swing my OTA antenna around towards them but I cannot pick them up. I can receive Channel 6 while pointed there.

Re: Channel 40 in Detroit old TV & no audio

Post by videocollectore » Mon Jan 01, 2018 5:54 pm

I noticed on 40.1 they are running some old tv series such as In Search Of, The Persuaders, Voyagers, I Spy, Voyage To The Bottom of The Sea.
My problem is that 40.1 has no audio. Am I the only one with this problem or is it the same for everyone?

The only Channel 40 I know of in the immediate area is WLMB in Toledo. I wonder if this is what you are picking up.

Unusually enough, WLMB actually transmits on real channel 5, which is low-VHF, so I'm wondering how you were even able to receive this in the first place.
For three days in January 2017 (15th, 16th, 19th) and one night in September 2017 (22nd), I managed to receive KDKA Pittsburgh from 202 miles away indoors!

WLPC is a religion station but during mornings and parts of the afternoon they are airing old tv shows and from what it looks like they might just be using retail dvds. The problem is that they have no sound. I tired contacting them but didn't get a response.

When I was House sitting for my Mom last week in Southfield her cable got WLPC, ( 397.) The showed to old sixties sitcom Tammy but the credits were in German. They also showed old Bugs Bunny Cartoons but the sound was screwed up on one of them. Bugs was trying to seduce another rabbit and their voices got mixed up.

It kind of strange that a religious station would show a character who has a penchant for cross dressing.

On an unrelated noted in Pepe Le Pew were around today would he be charged for sexual harassment?
