Who the hell is gonna watch an 11:30p newscast? This is all about saving money by eliminating a time slot where syndicated programming had to be purchased.

The quality of the newscast is going to be piss poor, I'm sure.

This has got to be bad news (no pun intended!) for in-house morale.
C'mon iHeartRadio - do the RIGHT thing for once! Please cancel "Rover's Morning Glory" from WBFX in Grand Rapids.

Seems someone must watch them. Or 'DIV and 'XYZ would just go right into Fallon or Kimmel when a ball game runs late.
I'm with you. If a football game runs until after 11, I'm thinking anyone that wants to catch the news has changed channels already.
I'd much rather 4 or 7 just segue right into the talk show after the game is over.

Even if the previous event runs over, the local stations must run the commercials scheduled inside their local news. Pre-empting the news (and its commercials) to get into the network late show on time is not an economically-viable option.

This seems really strange. I mean, Fox 2 already has an hour-long 10 PM news, and then The Edge at 11 PM. Now they're doing another one at 11:30?!

So I ponder if the amount the vendors pay to air these commercials remains the same?
If I'm any indication, a newscast starting at 11:21 is not going to be viewed by as many people as a newscast that begins at 11 o'clock.

One would think the ad rates decline as the night wears on...
