I was addicted to WOMC. The late 60s thru 1989 was a perfect blend.

The removal of the 60s was upsetting but now the 70s?
The 80s have been played snd played to death on every station and I've grown to become annoyed. Now a station playing only 80s, I won't have it

I'm sorry but I'm done with WOMC.

I was in shock when I tried requesting a song from 1970 during the noon lunch hour and I was told he won't play any 70s for me.

Hopefully someone flips formats and crushes OMC.
On 93.5 I've heard plenty of 60s music on there still.
I can see playing less 70s music, but it would be cool to have 30% or so of it. Looking at the hourly playlists, most comprise all 80s music. The glaring exception is JJ's all request lunch. By pulling most titles after '79, the library is much smaller.

No, it wasn't that...

Besides all Steely Dan songs sound the same anyway :blink

Another great example of customer/listener service as a WOMC listener, about their experience, wrote:
This person no longer works there, he/she's gone on to customer service at United Airlines.

As far as advertising agencies are concerned everyone over 54 is out of the demo and dead to them. To stay in business a station needs to attract listeners under 54.

Funny. I'm in my 60s now -- and I have more disposable income than I have ever had before.

That's because the model is built on a majority of the population being young and having kids... it's just that now things are different but the model is stuck in about 1955...

Further evidence of changing times (though more 70's are played vs. a couple weeks ago):

Never Let You Go - Third Eye Blind - 1999
Gourds Just Want To Have Fun... Veggie Tales... 2010 (not kidding)...

That is just as bizarre as that one time when Kroger's satellite radio provider went berserk and played nothing but children's songs all day in their stores...and even that translator chain called "Family Life Radio" or something like it.
For three days in January 2017 (15th, 16th, 19th), I managed to receive KDKA Pittsburgh from 202 miles away indoors!

I disagree. I think WOMC is well executed and playing exactly what they should be playing - mass appeal music to a 35 to 54 year old audience. The 70's have been played to death. Time to move on, IMO. Don't eliminate the decade completely, but it ought to be less than 30 percent of the playlist.

The median song age for oldies stations has been in the 30 to 35 range for a while.

I think they have went downhill. They just played a song that just peak of 26 in 1978. I never heard it before.

They shouldn't have pulled all the jingles. Dry segues, are well...dry.
I'm surprised that there still are no jingles. All of the other CBS Greatest Hits outlets (WCBS, WJMK, etc.) still have them. In fact, most sound like fairly new packages.

In the not too distant future don't be surprised if you start hearing Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots and even a few Nirvana tracks.

Yup. I'm thinking "Black Hole Sun" by Soundgarden could make an appearance, too. Big hit on CHR radio back in the day. Pearl Jam and Red Hot Chili Peppers will definitely be heard on WOMC soon.

Smash hits from one-hit wonder type artists ("No Rain" by Blind Melon, "Mr. Jones" by Counting Crows) will become more plentiful in their music rotation, as will safe rock-based hits from Toad the Wet Sprocket, Collective Soul, Soul Asylum, Gin Blossoms, etc. Basically, the type of stuff one can already hear on WHMI.
Radio station web sites that do not offer music logs or at least a "songs recently played" list are stupid.

We can count Mr. Jones already... they added that one a bit ago...

Badge by Cream played today during the lunch hour and I requested Crocodile Rock by Elton John.

But ive been hearing the GooGoo Dolls now, Drops of Jupiter by Train was on once. Baby Baby by Amy Grant too is in there.

I got very upset over the Chumawumba song TubThumping. It mixed in there makes the station sound like a joke

We should get them playing push it... then it'll really sound silly... I happened to then the radio on as you were requesting that... try Funeral For A Friend / Love Lies Bleeding next time...
