It will work indorrs, just not as good (as any antenna would work better outdoors)....

Um, you really do have to mount it indoors if you want it to work indoors. If it's not indoors, then perhaps it may be .....um, I don't know....outdoors?

It depends on the reception area. For rejecting an interfering station, a directional antenna might work in an attic if it faces the right way. Fringe reception is just as dependant on where the antenna is. A dirt cheap homemade dipole mounted in a good location is sometimes as good as it gets. A good location is as high as possible away from metal.

Your attic will work decent - but you can't have aluminum siding or it doesn't work as well.
