How about Benny Mardones 😆 “Into The Night” You know she was just sixteen years old and they said leave her alone. Looks illegal to me. What do you 🤔 think.
Some states allow or used to allow marriage at 16 so maybe that provides a loophole. Otherwise, i thought it was wierd, too, that those lyrics could be played in any decade on radio.

I can recall 95.5 playing Beat It when his 2005 trial was over. Then it was pretty dead. Speaking as someone at 105.1 in 2009, we really didn't play MJ at all until his death. Suddenly most of Thriller, half of Bad and a few select Dangerous songs were on the playlist.

Of course, we went through formatics like pairs of socks back then, but that isn't the point. MJ was almost nowhere to be found until his death. Then you couldn't escape it on AC radio. As to the break NOW, I'm not sure. You'd think with that documentary out there'd be even more Michael. Maybe it's just burnout?

The lyrics in that tune always stuck in my head, And I played it a million times on the air and just laughed my ass off every time I played it.The singer sounds like a 40 something and the 16 year old girls parents are saying leave her alone she’s just 16 years old or we’ll call the authorities. 😆

I remember in the 2000s 100.3 WNIC and 105.1 WMGC would play Whitney Houston, Madonna and Prince from the 80s but barely any Michael Jackson. His numbers went up after 2009.

The AOC has been rising in recent years. Here's a map. In MI, it's 16. I think some the Mexican border states have raised them because of illegal aliens being exploited. Concern about going across state borders as a loophole was first addressed in 1910 by The Mann Act. The Mann Act, despite it's name, also applies to Women exploiting Men, which many teachers have found out.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ages_of_c ... States.svg

There were many other recording tracks that alluded to AOC, such as "I Saw Her Standing There" by The Beatles, "Mellow Yellow" by Donovan, and "Edge Of Seventeen" by Stevie Nicks. Why are they still playing those? Others, like "She Hangs Out" by the Monkees (It was banned by many stations, and the single was withdrawn) and "Does Your Mother Know" by ABBA, allude to it without mentioning specific ages. Red Skelton used to allude to how common it was in Hollywood at the time in his monologue, and how it was almost encouraged by other actors so they would all keep quiet, so that all would be equally compromised.

She's never had any issues with drugs or alcohol and her kids are not a mess. Unlike many others.

I'm confused why you mention only those 3 artists from the 80s.

The 80s were not played sparingly.
They were both playing music as old as 1960 during the 2000s.
WNIC in particular focused on older music with a sprinkling of current AC hits.
It truly lived up to it's "Your Variety Station" branding.

That you're aware of Alan Almond is what is weird af.

If you dig that, get yourself an old RE-20 and a compressor and we'll talk mic set-up and what the proximity effect of cardioids is all about. :)

I am not saying that only Madonna, Prince and Michael Jackson were or are the only ones getting played from the 80s. But those 3 are and have been by far the 3 most played artists on AC radio from that decade.

Weird in a purely statistical way, nothing to do with your musical tastes. You appear to be rather young; perhaps I'm in error.
