So long, Esquire network!!!

Post by MWmetalhead » Wed Jul 05, 2017 9:00 pm

I spent all of 10 minutes (total) watching this network during its brief existence, but apparently it is toast.

While channel surfing, I noticed the following slide on the former home of the Esquire Network on Xfinity:

"Esquire Network has ceased operations."

Apparently, June 28 was its last day on the air.

Does anyone know what station, (if any) is going to replace it?

I noticed this a few days ago on Charter. Channels be droppin' like flies. I am pissed about FamilyNet being changed to the Cowboy Channel. And although LOGO has some oldie shows I like, the rest of the programming on there is horseshit.

One has to wonder if we have too many cable channels that show the same stuff as the others -- from Esquire TV's Wikipedia article:
On October 1, 2016, Dish Network removed the channel from the lineup. As with their earlier dropping of Cloo, the provider justified it by stating that Esquire's schedule is made up of programming also easily found on USA Network, WGN America and Ion Television, along with streaming providers.
(Emphasis mine.)

Canadians don't have to deal with this at all.

For three days in January 2017 (15th, 16th, 19th) and one night in September 2017 (22nd), I managed to receive KDKA Pittsburgh from 202 miles away indoors!

The only thing I watched on there was Car Matchmaker. It was hosted by Spike Feresten, a former writer for Seinfeld.

I liked Spike's short-lived Saturday late night talk show on FOX. It was a nice alternative to SNL, which really, really stunk at the time.

I remember that too. It was short lived but I liked it. He is a sharp guy. Not just anyone can write for Seinfeld. He wrote the "Soup Nazi" episode.
