Tonight WDIV is dumping both Will & Grace and Champion to air their pet special. My viewership is right now being given to WNWO, yes it's Sinclair-owned but genuinely due to the weather I had no other choice with my antenna.

For three days in January 2017 (15th, 16th, 19th) and one night in September 2017 (22nd), I managed to receive KDKA Pittsburgh from 202 miles away indoors!

I think last night's Will And Grace episode was a rerun, (I watched the CBS shows on DVR, all new.)

WDIV is airing their usual summer fireworks show right now. NBC programs have been relocated to Me TV 4.3. Apparently that has replaced WADL as the station that shows NBC programs preempted by WDIV.

Which totally makes sense (although 4.3 will display the network shows in standard def, whereas WADL ran them in HD).

That is kinda sad for the downgrade.

WDIV is doing that to a lot of NBC's prime time programming this week. In addition to Monday night's fireworks, they've got a republican debate, followed by a summer safety program from 8:00 to 9:30 tonight (Thursday June 28.) Then on Friday the 29th, they're rebroadcasting the fireworks beginning at 8:00 PM for an hour. Surprised WXYZ 7 hasn't moved or preempted any ABC programming yet this summer.

Speaking of preemptions, when WJBK was the CBS affiliate in Detroit, it would preempt the CBS late-night schedule until the 1993 debut of The Late Show with David Letterman when the station cleared the show at 11:35pm.

There were extreme cases though-at least in 1987, neither WDIV nor WTVG cleared Super Password. The closest affiliate that cleared it was WKYC, which was still at the time owned by NBC (and consequently also the closest American network-owned station, as WXYZ had just been sold to Scripps at the start of 1986).
Nearly three years later and I recently found more information about preemptions of this very show. According to Radio Discussions, Super Password was also preempted by WILX and WOOD. That's one side effect of scheduling network programs at noon, which would certainly guarantee preemptions in many markets across the country.

I also noticed that, fortunately, CKCO, which during this time was listed in the Detroit Free Press TV lineup, cleared Super Password as well. With it's channel 42 transmitter in Sarnia, this was most likely how Detroit viewers could watch Super Password, even if it meant enduring a fuzzy signal.
