2018/2019 TV Season

Post by sfpcc » Sun Sep 02, 2018 6:23 pm

Right now it's the beginning of September. The new tv season will roll out in a few weeks, (maybe it's too soon for this post.) Does anyone out there have a new show their looking forward too? (or something they like returning.) This Tuesday night at 10. (EST) FX is premiering the Sons Of Anarchy prequel Mayans M.C.

Looking forward to the returns of Magnum PI and Murphy Brown. I also want to try out FBI, New Amsterdam and The Conners too. Also enjoy Riverdale, Will & Grace and Blue Bloods. May even consider trying to watch The Simpsons on a TV again.

I would love to see some new ideas, but apparently there are none.

The new season so far:

Magnum PI / Pretty good start. It seems like it's going to be a solid CBS action show like Hawaii Five 0 or Blue Bloods. Will watch a few more
episodes

I Feel Bad / Not going to watch. American Housewife kind of does the same thing only better.

The FBI / Pilot was OK but a little to much like other Dick Wolf Shows. On the fence but I'm leaning towards not watching.

Single Parents / Cute, will keep watching for awhile. I like Leighton Meester, (watching the previews I thought she was Minka Kelly. They Both look similar which was part of the plot of the Movie Roommates.)

Still need to see A Million Little Things and Manifest.

I think CBS and the other networks have run out of good and original ideas for a TV series. All I am seeing is them rehashing old shows like MacGuyver, Magnum PI, and Hawaii Five 0. All I see on network TV is old and recycled ideas.

Kinda says a lot about the state of 'reality TV' these days, eh?

The MB reboot was sorta fun to watch, in a reminiscing kind of way. Seemed forced, though, and not sure there's enough gas in the tank to last beyond a season.

My opinions so far of the new season:

Magnum PI and Murphy Brown were pretty good, both appear like they're going to be solid in their respective genres. Gonna try the next several episodes.

FBI, I turned off midway through, got a bit boring. Probably won't watch.

Manifest was OK but again boring and kinda gritty. Probably won't watch.

New Amsterdam was enjoyable, even though it may not yet quite reach up to become the ER of this decade. Again, gonna try the next several episodes.

There are several more shows that haven't premiered yet that I still have to watch.

I wasn't sure if I should start another thread on this topic or mention this in this one? I just watched the Season Premier of SNL. Musical Guest Kanye West came out dressed as a Perrier Bottle. Seeing this the first thought in my head was "I really just don't understand modern music."

Kanye West has lost all credibility in recent years.

Last night's SNL was pretty good. Even the post-12:30 sketches were pretty funny. The best part of the show was definitely when Adam Driver namedropped Traverse City in the opening.

I do wonder when we'll be seeing Alec Baldwin as Trump this season. Kavanaugh dominated the news this week and Trump was pretty quiet.

Pretty much 24/7. It's called NBC.

The Neighborhood and Happy Together were both stale from beginning to end, though The Neighborhood was slightly better. Not watching either.

Agreed. Anyone notice that Happy Together is more or less the same story as Get Him To The Greek? Instead of Russel Brand we get that somewhat boring guy.

All American, not watching. It already got stale five minutes in. There are obviously better football-centric shows than this.

Two final reviews of mine on this fall's new shows.

Charmed really tried and succeeded at pausing the storyline to please the normies, something the original series never did. Not watching.

The Conners was pretty good, it had some flat spots but they got by those just fine while dealing with the aftermath of Roseanne's death. Gonna try the next several episodes.
