Remember, there is a six hour time difference between Amsterdam and anywhere in EST. His original post in this thread was just before 3PM, so 9PM there. Maybe he was settling back into his hotel for the night, assuming he’s actually there.

If you’re ever in Amsterdam, splurge for the Indonesian food. It’s outstanding.

The libertarian in me agrees that both should be legal.

My issue is, is that the kind of society we want to live in? Pot shops and brothels everywhere, people high in public, hookers on every street corner. Part of me believes that we need to have at least SOME standards as a society as to what is acceptable behavior.

Anybody who thinks smoking marijuana is completely harmless is either an idiot or lying to themselves. Though I will also say that it is all relative as I'm sure eating a Big Mac everyday for lunch is worse for your health than is occasionally smoking pot.

I view it more as a societal problem insofar as the root question should be, why do so many people want to be high (or drunk) in the first place? Are our lives as a whole really that bad that being sober 100% of the time is not desirable?
