Four days after a judge ordered former President Donald Trump to pay $354 million in his civil fraud case, New York Attorney General Letitia James told ABC News that she is prepared to seize the former president's assets if he is unable to find the cash to cover the fine.

"If he does not have funds to pay off the judgment, then we will seek judgment enforcement mechanisms in court, and we will ask the judge to seize his assets," James said in an interview with ABC News' Aaron Katersky.

Trump was fined $354.8 million plus approximately $100 million in pre-judgment interest on Friday after Judge Arthur Engoron determined that he inflated his net worth in order get more favorable loan terms.

Donald J. Trump offered a New York appeals court on Wednesday a bond of only $100 million to pause the more than $450 million judgment he faces in his civil fraud case, saying that he might need to sell some of his properties unless he gets relief.

It was a stunning acknowledgment that Mr. Trump, who is racing the clock to either secure a bond from a company or produce the full amount himself, lacks the resources to do so. Without a bond, the New York attorney general’s office, which brought the fraud case, could seek to collect from Mr. Trump at any moment.

Mr. Trump’s lawyers also asked the court to delay a wide range of other punishments the judge in the fraud case levied in his decision earlier this month. They include a prohibition on obtaining a loan from a New York bank for three years and a ban on running a company in the state during that same period.

Judge Anil Singh of the state court’s Appellate Division ruled Trump has to post a bond for the entire judgment and that his three-year prohibition against doing business in New York would remain in force. The business prohibition also bars him from getting loans from financial institutions chartered or registered in the state.

Singh's temporary ruling now heads to a five-judge appellate panel to determine how much Trump must post to avoid paying the full judgment while he appeals.

The speculation I'm hearing is that he's trying to buy time until his Truth Social media company merges with SPAC and goes public next month, at which time, Trump's holdings in that alone could be worth up to $4 billion. Theory goes he could then leverage that to raise money by say, getting a loan from a bank.

Not in New York. An Appeals Court Judge turned down his request to only post 100 million, Trump saying he may have to sell property to make the bond. Judge also said he can't get a loan from a New York Bank.

Beemers speculation is on point actually… the idea that it’s worth $4 Billion is ironically rather suspect and may be overinflated. It’s a deal that is at least raising eyebrows now that’s it’s on the radar.
