Are you some hapless patsy for large corporations?
Yup you've busted me. You figured it out.

I've never been a divisional grievenceman at the largest integrated steel mill in Michigan. I've never seen the company let a third of the bosses go on what we called Day of the Long Knives. And then turn around and give their jobs to hourly "bun boys", leaving the shop short handed.

I have no idea what I'm talking about. You got me. Busted.
Are you related to Audiophile?

Mill work is dangerous work. Care to explain why work injury and death dropped after Unionization?

Sorry it was inconvenient for the managers, maybe you should have considered unionization. You sound resentful that you didn't have the same protection that collective bargaining does.

Despite being stuck in middle management, given the short end of a stick, you still defended those who likely closed you down because the tax implications were favorable. You should be proud you left an ample trust fund for the children of upper management. It likely helped them buy that third vacation home.

12000 managers sounds like a case of too many chiefs not enough Indians.
UPS makes its money by moving packages from point A to point B. Only people directly and physically involved in that actually generate income for the company. Take this box and get it to my daughter in Kentucky is what I am paying for.

My neighbor worked for UPS, he says it was the worst job he ever had. According to him it’s was like he was a slave for the company. I hear that Amazon is the same way. You may get $20 or more an hour, but you’re doing the work of 5 people.

Hey Craig,

UPS operates in 220 countries, flies 2200 flights a day, is the 3rd largest global import export brokerage, has 500,000 employees, probably 8,000 people just in accounting,
and over 1200 facilities in the US alone.

You might be over simplifying them a bit.

Can I book a flight with UPS Airlines? Or are they moving freight?

UPS didn't become a successful Company by making dumb decisions.
I started out with nothing and I still have most of it.

Back in the 90's they used to run flights to Florida on the weekends for passengers... Not kidding...

Today it's all freight all the time. UPS is largely owned by the Union and any many managers came up from those union jobs. It was probably the best job I had when I was in college, work 530a - 9a and be in class by 10a.

Ex brother in law works for UPS and we were talking and he said the drivers have been told that if the trend continues in shipping they will face kays offs too. He has 29 years with them so he feels he will be somewhat safe.

It will all depend on what Amazon does. UPS delivers a significant amount of the Amazon load too big for USPS. I imagine UPS would lose significantly should Amazon get to 100% in-house delivery. I know they are building two facilities in Northern Michigan. We are pretty far down the list of markets they serve.
