CDC: Juvenile Diabetes Risk Increases After COVID Infections

Post by MotorCityRadioFreak » Mon Feb 28, 2022 10:27 pm

It’s another disturbing discovery for children under 18 in the wake of COVID. They are 2.5 times more likely to develop diabetes in the weeks following infection per the CDC.

CDC press release as follows:

Risk of Diabetes After COVID-19 Infection
Virtual Congressional Briefing
Wednesday, March 2
1:00 PM EST

A recent MMWR study found that children and adolescents younger than 18 years old with a prior COVID-19 infection were up to 2.5 times more likely to be newly diagnosed with diabetes in the months following COVID-19 infection compared with youth without COVID-19 and those diagnosed with other respiratory infections before the pandemic (https://bit.ly/3p8OWmH).

Join us for a conversation with the lead author of the report, the director of the division of diabetes translation at CDC, and the former chair of the National Clinical Care Commission to understand what this means for COVID prevention and diabetes prevention and treatment.

I wouldn't doubt if all the kids locked down for nearly two years are at a MUCH higher risk of developing diabetes, whether they had COVID or not. Yea, diabetes, heart conditions and all kinds of other illnesses. We'll probably see those effects in full force in the next twenty years or so.

No doubt in my mind whatsoever that the lockdowns and mask requirements did and will do more damage to children than Covid itself did.

I'm not suggesting there won't be some long-term consequences of Covid infections for some people. But the consequences of the lockdowns will dwarf those by orders of magnitude (at least in children). AND, the sad part is that most children had Covid despite the lockdowns, meaning, the lockdowns accomplished literally nothing but have a ton of negative attached to them.
