CHWI-DT-26 about to move

Post by RingtailedFox » Sat Apr 20, 2019 2:18 pm

So, I was watching CTV Windsor this morning when I saw a ticker scrolling across the screen.... it said that 26.1 would be moving on April 28 (though it made no mention of what channel it was moving *to*)... get ready, folks... it'll be landing on UHF 17.

Or, maybe more WKYC in Windsor.
We'll have to wait to see what happens when they move to 19.

Since the antennas are pointed away from Metro Detroit I don't pick up 26, but with the move that could change.

Most if not all Canadian TV signals are always directed away from Detroit.

CICO-DT-32 is moving from RF 32 to RF 19. So you'll never be able to pick up WKYC when they move to RF 19 as well.

Forgot about that.
Worse, separated almost entirely by Lake Erie, WKYC will have CICO32 for lunch whenever tropo occurs that is, almost all summer)

I think the non-coms (CBET and TVO) are omnidirectional

I don’t get either of them in Shelby Township, Someone told me it’s because of The RenCen, I don’t know how true that would be.

32 runs at pathetic power levels. 9 is SE of Windsor, and on a short tower.

CBET-DT is omidirectional, but with slight nulls to the NW (to protect WWTV in Cadillac, also on VHF 9) and to the NE to protect CFTO-DT in Toronto (also on VHF 9)...

I get both 9 and 32 in Shelby Township with my outdoor antenna pointed directly south. I will sometimes have issues getting 9 or 32 in, but most of the time their signals are pretty solid. But those are the only two Canadian channels I can really pull in. If I point an antenna directly east I have been able to pick up 29 and an okay signal for analog 42 in the past, but I have never been able to get them in reliably so I gave up even trying.

I easily get both 9 and 32 in Wyandotte, almost regardless of where my antenna is pointed. On occasion, if my antenna is pointed north or east, I've been able to pick up 22 and CHWI on RF16. I used to be able to pick up analog 42, but it hasn't been showing up as of late.

My furthest DTV tropo: KDKA Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at 202 miles for three days in January 2017 and a night in September 2017 with only an Antennas Direct C2V!

Current setup: Antennas Direct C2Max (2018-present)
