Subchannels

Post by szmigiel » Fri Dec 14, 2018 4:36 pm

According to Rabbit Ears
Channel 20 is adding Court TV on 20.4
Channel 50 is adding TBD on 50.4

Never even heard of TBD, and thought it was just a place holder for To Be Determined, but followed the link and found out it was actually a channel.
20.3 is still listed as Escape, but last time I ran a rescan it has been blank.
No sign of Decades returning to metro area anytime soon.

A local Court TV?
Because the actual Court TV network rebranded as TruTV over 10 years ago.

I think this is going to be a new network, like Justice Network... or how the digital subnet Heartland TV started off as "The Nashville Network" for a couple of years before rebranding...

To hijack a Simpsons quote "Remember CourtTV? Their back, in subchannel form"
It is the old CourtTV returnning as a subchannel

WHNE is not strong enough for CBS to have Decades on, they will more than likely put Decades on 62.3, WHNE’s signal will even suffer more when they move the RF to Channel 3 and I’m sure that’s a consideration as well.

I wish WHNE would channel-share with WUDT (Daystar) once that station moves to VHF 8 again.... at the very least, it'll cover Detroit and the inner suburbs pretty well. The only reason it failed last time it was on VHF 8 was becuase of the laughably low power it used (300 watts), when 3 kW is more realistic for good coverage.

Court TV on 20.4 is just speculation. The Rabbit Ears site master said he just guessed 20.4 because Court announced Scripps would carry it in Detroit, and WMYD was the only Scripps station in the area that wasn't filled to the .4 (WXYZ has mobile DTV on 7.4) plus Court wasn't announced in Lansing, because Scripps' WSYM is filled to the .4

Thats a very good idea.

WHNE has now more then enough channels to add Daystar. It could help them both financially.

You should message WHNE about this idea. They are a;ways receptive to suggestions.

Myself I would love to keep rf8 free for tropo of WJW clev.....

Honestly the only decent thing about TBD is their carriage of Kidsclick, which is Sinclair's attempt to reboot such a cartoon block. Even then, most of what is on there is still crap, with, IMO, the only decent shows in it being the Angry Birds cartoon and that 2010 Pink Panther show.

My furthest DTV tropo: KDKA Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at 202 miles for three days in January 2017 and a night in September 2017 with only an Antennas Direct C2V!

Current setup: Antennas Direct C2Max (2018-present)

Late Friday night I stopped on TBD, as I saw a bug for "DUST" in the corner. Dust is a site that produces and streams indie sci-fi and fantasy short films. The segment I saw featured a couple of neat "Twilight Zone"-type stories. I didn't see Dust on their schedule, so maybe it was something within some other existing show. At least one reason to check out TBD again sometime.

We could do without Grit TV or Shart TV.
Bring back Decades! :hat
