Let me also say though as a Wings fan that if they win one game during their 7 game losing streak, they would be in. They screwed themselves.
I don't necessarily agree with that assessment because if they had more wins going into the home stretch, maybe they don't play with quite the same urgency down the stretch and pull 3 miracle wins out of thin air.
In the last 20 years, how many times have the Wings made the playoffs?

so are you asking if in a salary cap world, can the team reach long consistency as they did during the (mostly) non cap world

probably not on the playoff streak, they'll get another cup at some point

I don't believe that Mike Ilitch's kids care about winning. It's like the Fords were for years.

Looks like My Capitals live to fight another day, which means the Wings are done...

Sorry boys.

You mean the Metro wildcard being shutout by the President's Trophy winner? No surprises.

Or did you mean the Wings season remains done?

I'm lousy at math. Just want to know how many more playoff games YOUR Capitals won than the Wings did.

GUARANTEED Detroit would have at least won a game.

Of course, Atlantic division is weaker than Metro. If the Wings had played the Rangers it would have been four no goal games.

Wings just weren't good enough to make the playoffs.
