Anyone think State will one one for the Tugger today, or will Penix prove too tough to contain?
Something tells me yes, they will win. I am sensing a whole "Bobby Williams" type scenario playing out over the next few weeks, complete with Barnett getting handed the keys after Tugger McGee is officially gone. I hope I'm very wrong. But, that is about the level of trust I have with MSU admin at the moment.
From a Lynn Henning column in the Detroit News (9/11/23):
December 1999: Nick Saban had been parceled to Louisiana State, courtesy of a nonsensical squabble with then-MSU President M. Peter McPherson who “didn’t think Saban was a good second-half coach.”

The Spartans eventually finished their year at 10-2, after beating Florida in the Citrus Bowl. They were loaded. They were set up to bring aboard a fabulous, nationally-crafted, cracker-jack coach.

But the Board of Trustees — notably, Joel Ferguson — decided the 2000 recruiting class had to be kept intact. Better to go with Saban assistant Bobby Williams as the new general. Williams went 15-17 during the next three seasons and was fired nine games into 2002.

This is a different situation. Barnett will have 10 games to audition to be the new head coach. Considering the difficulty of the MSU schedule, we should find out in that time whether he is the right man for the job.

Not that the idiot BoT won't fuck the decision up....

They won't be winning one for the Tugger.

No they won't. And my earlier comment is why I don't bet on sports.

The Board of Trustees need to be held accountable too. Why would they approve an $80 million dollar deal for this bum, after a fluke season. Truth is, the Board of Trustees have been screwed up for years.

$71 million came from MSU. $14 million from Mat Ishbia. $10 million from Steve St. Andre.
Morgan Wallen is a piece of garbage.

I just hope MSU gets stuck with the whole contract.
