Re: Jim Brown dies at 87
I was born in Springfield Ohio in 1952 and we lived there (Yellow Springs) until 1961.
Back then pro sports in Ohio was the Cleveland Browns, Cincinnati Reds, Cleveland Indians and the long gone Cincinnati Royals NBA team. Currently the Sacramento Kings but I have an issue with making connections when a team moves multiple times.
At any rate Jim Brown was one of my boyhood heros along with a few late 50's Reds.

From NBC's The Flip Wilson Show on January 27, 1972, "Chicken Delicious" (with Geraldine) (runs 9:30) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tcbn0K8 ... milianBull

The news media is calling Jim Brown an "activist." In a strange way, I guess these pictures were part of his activism:

They were originally from Rochester, New York before they were in Cinncinatti… they seem to have moved a zillion times.craig11152 wrote: ↑Fri May 19, 2023 5:29 pmI was born in Springfield Ohio in 1952 and we lived there (Yellow Springs) until 1961.

I did not know who Jim Brown was until I heard Richard Pryor's bit on him playing football and repeating JB's words, "give me the ball."
Sounds as if he was one heck of a football player/athlete, and a friend of Pryor's (until RP's overuse of 'the pipe'.)

Cleveland Browns beat the late Johnny Unitas & the Baltimore Colts 27 - 0 in the 1964 NFL Championship. (the last shutout so far in NFL Football history because there was no Super Bowl shutouts yet).
