2023 NFL Draft

Post by moldyoldie » Wed Apr 26, 2023 8:49 am

At this point nothing, and I mean NOTHING will surprise me in the first round of this year's draft! There seems to finally be a consensus at #1 overall to Carolina, QB Bryce Young of 'Bama. Even then I'm not completely sold that Carolina's sold on him.

As for the Lions, my personal preference is the same as it's always been-- just get a "player" who shows up to play every week. DT Jalen Carter, once touted as the consensus #1 talent in the draft, is not that player...in my opinion.
I'd be delighted if edge Wil Anderson somehow fell to the Lions at #6, though I wouldn't trade up to get him.

Well, that big mystery is over- -- Stroud to the Texans.

Will the Cardinals go offense or defense? Or trade?

(Edit)
Wow! :eek Texans trade back up to #3! Gotta be Will Anderson.

It is! Ballsy, ballsy, ballsy. I wonder if Lions made an offer.

I wonder what Arizona got out of the deal? That's crazy getting the 2nd and 3rd overall pick.

So my prediction now is....Jalen Carter.

EDIT - nevermind, looks like they traded away their pick.

Lions give up #6.

In return, they get #12, #34, and #168. Not a bad trade, I guess. At #12 they should be able to get either Banks or Gonzales at CB.

Holmes is cookin' again. Yep, looks like they're passing on Carter. Would Carter drop all the way to #12? Would Gonzalez?

Nope, Eagles take Carter, trading up one spot with da Bears.

Jahmyr Gibbs? I don't like, one bit. He woulda still been available for their 18th overall pick. Shoulda taken a CB.

Looks like Swift's days as a Lion are numbered. There are a lot of good cornerbacks available in this draft, Gonzalez may still be available at #18.

Green Bay just took Lukas Van Ness.

Steelers traded up to 14. Drafted Broderick Jones, OT from Georgia.

Cornerbacks go back-to-back, Forbes to Washington and Gonzalez to Patriots.

Lions are up, could be CB Joey Porter Jr., or DT Kalijah Kancey. I can't believe they'd go offense again.

...or it could be LB Jack Campbell. :lol
