Any bets on the number of hits and the number of homers that Miggy ends up with at the end of his career (the end of this season)?

I won't bet on the number, but my guess is he's stuck at #17 all-time in hits; he trails Cal Ripken by sixteen hits with only six games left.

Miggy does have an outside shot of passing Mel Ott, Ernie Banks, and Eddie Matthews to move into the #21 spot all-time in homers, but pitchers will have to groove a few pitches for him.

I'm wondering if Hinch will play him all six games; the Tigers are fighting for second place in the AL Comedy Central. The season ends with three games against the Indi...uh, Guardians.

If there is a lopsided score when he comes up for his last at-bat on Sunday, he will probably get a very good pitch to hit. Probably as good as the pitch that Denny McLain grooved to Mickey Mantle in 1968 for a home run.

IIRC, that was in Denny's win #31. He never did admit to it, at least at the time. :lol

Detroit won, Cleveland didn't.... Tigers in second place. 74-83.

Miggy ties Mel Ott. :D

(Edit)
Hmm, rain delay in the fourth and the radar doesn't look promising. It may negate Miggy's homer. :?

Kaline finished his career with 399 home runs and had 2 rained out. He could have been the first AL player to have 400 HR and 3,000 hits.

Interesting factoid.

Tonight's game is suspended, not postponed. Play resumes tomorrow at 1:10.

Tigers explode for seven in the seventh in today's scheduled game, highlighted by Torkelson's 30th homer of the season and 90th RBI. This after finishing off last night's suspended game to take two today from the lowly Royals and a sweep of the series. The Tigers are an amazing 33-16 against the AL Comedy Central with three against Cleveland to wrap up the season. Second place is up for grabs.

Interesting weekend coming up, with two future Hall of Famers calling it quits. Wonder if the Tigers will do anything special for Terry Francona, who coached for the Tigers in 1996 (and who would have been the perfect successor to Jim Leyland)?

Tigers clinch a tie for second place in the AL Comedy Central with an 8-0 shellacking of the Guardians (I'll get used to writing that moniker eventually).

The White Sox lost again tonight, reaching the 100-loss mark. They were .500 in 2022.

It's significant in that they started a rebuild about a year before the Tigers started their rebuild. For awhile, it looked like it was working well, with several good young players from trades, and a division title in 2021. Their collapse should be a warning to the Tigers to not take anything for granted with what looks like a team that will start contending next year.
