Detroit 11, Cleveland 7.

Tigers had 15 hits and only gave up three hits after Maeda left.

Vilade's two hits changed the score from 5-7 to 7-7, and from 8-7 to 9-7.

Meadows would probably have made outs in both at-bats.

Currently 7-7.
Maeda was a brilliant signing.
Might be time for some serious rationalizing, with the cost of Maeda's rotation spot being:

$14 million (salary of a DFA'd Maeda)
$729,200 (salary of recalled Matt Manning)
----------
$14,729,200

What a miserable game.

Blowing a late lead at home to a team that came in 11 games below .500.

And appearing in truly ugly uniforms.

Detroit placed Maeda on the 15-day injured list Saturday, retroactive to May 8, due to a viral illness.

They have called up Akil Baddoo to fill the roster spot. They should have Matt Manning pitch Monday against Miami.

Verlander is pitching today for Houston.

I know he makes me ill whenever he pitches.

Tigers have now lost 7 of their last 9 and are in fourth place in the AL Central.
Morgan Wallen is a piece of garbage.

Everyone needs to take a breath. The Astros are surging following a horrid start. The Yankees are doing great

I really hope Badoo can stick around. I honestly think they will be fine if they can get a few bats in a trade.

We're at the 40-game mark that Sparky Anderson made famous (https://www.blessyouboys.com/2010/5/22/ ... the-tigers).

How well has the 40-game mark predicted the season in the A.J. Hinch era:

2021: 14-26 (.350) + 63-59 = 77-85 (.475)
2022: 14-26 (.350) + 52-70 = 66-96 (.407)
2023: 19-21 (.475) + 59-63 = 78-84 (.481)
2024: 20-20 (.500); ???

Based on all this, I see them finishing 81-81 or 82-80. Like the Red Wings this year, we'll have to settle for a non-losing record as progress.

They still aren't hitting. There is major concern. You can't make the playoffs with such a putrid offense.

We'll have to put the analytics boys on this one, comparing the exit velocity, launch rate, humidity, temperature, stadium noise level, concession sales, and fan wi-fi usage at the time of his two home runs compared to all of his other at-bats.

I don't believe it, nine innings of shutout ball and we lose 1-0 in ten. How often can great pitching hold up to this? Tonight's victim, Reese Olson who went eight innings striking out six with zero walks. Rookie call-up Wenceel Perez had two of the Tigers' four hits.
