That dwarf prick, Mitch Albom, had the audacity to write a lengthy article criticizing the fans for booing and went out of his way to kiss Stafford's ass.

Stafford is OVERRATED and has trouble making plays in big games. (Last night wasn't even such a game, arguably). His record against teams over .500 stinks.

He was far from being the only issue last night. Biggest failure by far was coaching.

I just canceled my Sunday-only subscription over Albom's inflammatory and malfeasant article.

I haven't listened to Mitch on the radio in years but I think once upon a time, way before WJR had the Lions Stafford was a Monday afternoon interview with Mitch every week during the season. So it doesn't surprise me if Mitch did that.

Not to defend Stafford's performance last night but I think people often talk about quarterbacks like they are MLB pitchers with respect to their ability to single handedly control the outcome of a game. They aren't pitchers and every time they take a snap they face 11 guys trying to stop them not 1 like a pitcher.

I don't think I ever saw a Lions game starting with so much expectation, only to lay an egg like last night's game. Just a piss poor performance that the whole organization should be ashamed of. Until the Ford family finally sells this franchise and they take the WCF off their sleeves, the fans will be saying WTF every time the Lions play.

I feel like Stafford is the scapegoat for all of their problems and I don't think that is entirely fair. Stafford's performance certainly sucked last night, but more blame belongs on that hideous offensive line. It is why Stafford is running for dear life every play and why the running game can't ever find any running lanes. Give him some at least mediocre protection and some semblance of a running game and I can guarantee you he doesn't throw 5 INTs.

I knew watching this team in the preseason that they weren't ready for the regular season and it clearly showed last night.

I just looked this up out of curiosity......NO POINT IS INTENDED TO BE MADE
The 17 points the Lions put up were enough for 7-8-1 record this weekend in the NFL
The 48 the Jets put up were 15-0-1 good.

Stafford is the most overrated QB in the league. The team should have never given him that H*** contract.

Defense is terrible and there is no run game, but that has been true for years.

I am sticking with 5-11, but that may seem generous now.

Who are 2,3 and 4? In order to declare him #1 you must have an idea who he beat out.

Andrew Luck, Derek Carr, and Jimmy Garoppolo.

The verdict is still out on Jimmy Garoppolo, but it is hard to call him overrated when a team that was 1-10 without him goes 5-0 when he shows up.

Garoppolo has barely played, and people act like he is the second coming of Joe Montana. He looked awful last Sunday.

To my way of thinking there are a variety of maneuvers that can fall under the umbrella of SOL .
Certainly the "too little too late" comeback that hints of a possible W before the clock or the downs run out is a classic.

They need to plug up the holes on defense and fast. If they keep getting gashed on the ground, the opponents will control the flow of the game and Stafford will never get into a rhythm on offense. The other sad reality is that they need to give up on trying to establish a run game. They're not built to run and I think their insistence on trying to run the ball is also screwing up Stafford's rhythm. During his entire tenure in Detroit they've had to rely on the passing game, so suddenly trying to be a run-first offense just isn't going to work - especially when they don't have a good enough offensive line to open up running lanes.

And don't get me started on kick coverage. They must have the worst special teams kick coverage in the league right now.

On a side-note, what a night and day difference between the Fox Sports play-by-play crew and ESPN's B-team Monday night crew! I like Chris Spielman as color commentator - he gives great insight into how the game is played and makes it understandable to the average person.

I'm not sure they want to be a "run-first offense" but I think establishing enough run game to make defenses take notice should help the passing game in theory. But I agree the offensive line seems to be a problem.....not only can't then open running lanes but they have a hard time keeping Stafford from getting hit.

The QB is also part of the problem.

And it was one of their bottom teams (the 4:05 games get the bottom crews as most of the 4:05 games are only there because of NFL rules prohibiting games from starting before noon local time)
