Songs on the radio that you never get tired of

Post by stopnswop2 » Tue Mar 05, 2019 1:14 am

Okay, now I know this may be a strange topic, but are there any songs that you actually never get tired of hearing on the radio?

I'll start with "This Love" by Maroon 5.

I fell in love with it the moment I first heard it on the radio.
Apparently I was not alone,
Despite it not hitting number one, it was one of the most requested songs on the radio in 2004 as well as the 3rd most played song of the entire year.
I was still hearing the song on Channel 955 well into 2005

It just will never get old to me.

Another 2 are: "Maggie May" by Rod Stewart and "Crocodile Rock" by Elton John

I don't care that the songs have been constantly played on the radio for over 45 years. I hope they play for 45 more years! Lol

The first time I heard Crocodile Rock was in the mid 90's, I was probably 5 or 6.
Went into Tubby's with my dad and they had WNIC on.
The song came on and I thought it was just the greatest thing ever. It became known to me as "The Tubby's Song" :lol

Every time I hear those 3 intro notes Elton slams down on the piano my eyes just light up, still to this day.

WOHO, Was it you that mentioned on another thread about an LPFM that you do a show on, I believe it was on a Can-Con topic.

I love Bizarre Love Triangle.
Specifically the 1994 Remix.

I used to frequently specifically ask Lisa Lisa to play that version during her "Back In The Day Lunch Party" on 106.7 The Beat.

(I honestly wish that station lasted longer. The variety was amazing. What other station could you hear a 90s hip hop song and an 80s rock song back to back?)

How about a song that I miss that got way too overplayed when it was a hit.

Mike Posner - Cooler Than Me.

I loved the special custom made intro Amp Radio had for it when they were playing it.
..which was basically the instrumental part after the intro copy and pasted in before the spoken intro.
"Simple yet effective".

AMP had custom intros to all their songs from launch up until maybe 2014.
(One of the 100 different reasons I always thought Amp was far superior to Channel 955)

One of these can still be heard on The Breeze.
"Girl On Fire" by Alicia Keys

Neil Diamond - Sweet Caroline

This song will live forever.

When I would play this song over the speakers at that yogurt shop I managed. it would amaze me to see young young kids all singing to it and doing the "bum bum bumm".

Would make me grin so much at a job I could not stand.

The Rockets version of "Oh Well". It has that distinct Detroit sound.

Also, almost any song from Fleetwood Mac's "Tango In the Night"... Believe it or not, that was a h u g e album on FM104 WIOT when it was released 32 years ago.
