I would widen such a format to be roughly 1987 through 2004. Just browsing through some music, here is a sampling of what I would play, just letters A and B alphabetically:

311 - Love Song
702 - Where my Girls At
Aaliyah - More Than a Woman
Aerosmith - Just Push Play
Alice Deejay - Better Off Alone
Alien Ant Farm - Smooth Criminal
Amy Grant - Lucky One
Angie Martinez - If I Could Go
Avril Lavigne - Losing Grip
B-52's - Roam
Baby Bash - Suga Suga
Beastie Boys - Intergalactic
Ben Harper - Steal My Kisses
Better Than Ezra - Good
Blaque/N'Sync - Bring it all to me
Blessed Union of Souls - I Believe
Blink 182 - Down
Blue October - Calling You
Blues Traveler - Hook
Bon Jovi - Every Day
Boy Krazy - That's What Love can Do
Brandy - Almost Doesn't Count
Bruce Hornsby - The Valley Road
Bruce Springsteen - Streets of Philadelphia

I may post more later for further down the alphabet if I get motivated.

The late 80's was probably one of the best era's of music because technology had improved, but not to the point they made it all with 'samples' like they did in the late 90's and later. Imperfection or improvisation made a unique sound.

Ask not what your country can do FOR you; ask what they are about to do TO YOU!!

Well, to each his own. Thats what I like least. I have particular scorn for old-school drum machines. They sound too fake and irritating. Bruce Springsteen songs are major offenders. A lot of the pop music sounds half-assed or incomplete. Plus, thats the beginning of the end. A lot of drummers and guitarists lost work because of that and it opened the doors for lazy musicianship. Drum machines were the worst thing to happen to popular music.
