Bdl, I will never use you as a reference for anything.

So your logic tells you that someone who thinks critically, analyzes logically, and writes correctly is unemployed? I think you have it the other way around.

Oh, and thanks for staying on topic.

Don't ever, ever, ever, ever talk to the police. Ever.

Have you seen the story of the Traverse City cop who was drinking while driving and displaying a Confederate flag?

Apparently he's suspended with pay. Nice.

Here's my issue. I hate the Confederate flag with every fiber of my being. It represents everything wrong with our country. It represents slavery, hatred, intolerance, and racism.

However, I support free speech. I believe this cop, as dirty, irresponsible, and ignorant as he is, has the right to express his opinion without the government punishing him regardless of how controversial it is. By disciplining him, the police department is violating his First Amendment rights. The department is punishing him for saying something that is unpopular. The last time I checked, that's not a crime!

I'm sure the city cut him a pretty sizable check to resign and agree not to sue.

Punishing him by suspending him for expressing his First Amendment right.

I love the way this citizen handled this police encounter.

The police lied and said the citizen was required to provide his identification. The citizen called him out.

Cop doesn't like it that people are complaining about people lawfully riding their bikes on the boardwalk.

He tells citizens they can't do it.

Citizen stands up for his rights. Cop gets his undergarments in a knot.

Cop leaves.

This is justice!

And another one of the Sarge's finest "few" bad cops.

He's rude. He lies about saying he's going to break her car window. He lies about taking her to jail. He lies about impounding her vehicle. He lied by saying he would not put his ticket book through the window. He throws the ticket book at her.

"I hope you have nothing to do because I don't." That's the only true statement he made.

He gets all upset because he says she's acting like a child. Since when is that illegal and punishable?

He got his feelings hurt and wanted to take it out on this woman.

Oh, and she wins.

Absolutely gorgeous display of a citizen standing up to a cop who wants to throw his weight around.

Cop harasses citizen for allegedly smoking something, asks for ID, and wastes this guy's time and the taxpayers' time.

Citizen stands up to the bullying. Cops can do nothing about it.

Educators should incorporate this in public education.

Don't like someone? Think they're annoying? Arrest them! It's the law enforcement way!

So a citizen gets his windshield vandalized. It's broken. He makes an appointment with an auto shop to get it fixed the next day. Cop writes the guy a ticket at the parking lot of the auto shop for a broken window!

You can't make this stuff up, Sarge! Just another one for the "few" pile!

Oh, I'm so glad you chimed in, Franko.

Your post allows me the wonderful opportunity to help educate you and others on this board.

Your post proves my point.

When you give an argument, please be sure there are FACTS that support that argument. Your statement of "99 percent of police are great people" is not supported by any research. You just pulled that statistic from somewhere, a dark place, one where the sun doesn't shine.

But while we're on that 99 percent number, let's see what FACTS! say about it.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/01/0 ... 55166.html

http://data.huffingtonpost.com/2015/12/ ... llegations

One of these reports is from Central New Jersey, where 99 percent of police brutality complaints go uninvestigated. No, not fully investigated and found that the officer did nothing wrong, we're talking complaints that never see the light of day, much like the place you pulled your 99 percent number from.

The other report is about Chicago, where nearly 99 percent of police abuse cases stemming from black people are dismissed, much higher than the rate of those by white people.

So, I will accept your number of 99 percent, however it's not to prove that that many police are "great people."

They other issue I take with you post is the accusation that I'm afraid of police. Since when does keeping the powerful accountable equate to fear? I hope the next time you go to your city council and criticize an action the board took that all of the board members ask you, "Why are you so afraid of us?"

How about asking why an officer pulled you over? Would that officer be justified by accusing the driver of fear?

Journalists that actually do their job and question politicians and other public officials must be the most fearful people, they're scared of politicians based on your logic!

Oh, and have a great day!
