Sanborn played the sax on the late David Bowie's 1975 album "Young Americans" (complete 8 songs album): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iO6OvHx ... Qo&index=1

His Night Music show from about 1990 was one of the coolest music shows ever. He had musicians from different genres, and sometimes they played together at the end of the show.

Here's a sample episode:

If you happened to tune into CBS's broadcast of Billy Joel's concert in New York a few weeks ago, that was Sanborn on Sax.

Within the first bars of Letterman's opening music I could tell if Sanborn was sitting in with the band that night. Such a distinctive sound and groove. We lost a good one.

I saw most of the show (almost twice), but must have missed Sanborn. All of the sax I saw was being handled by Joel's regular sax player, Mark Rivera.
