What's next for 93.9fm in Indianapolis?

Hey, some of us like to talk about happenings in other areas of the country, too. Here's the place to do it.

From RAMP Radio and Music Pros"
Cumulus Media solved the issue of owning two Top 40 stations in Indianapolis by flipping WYRG (Energy 93.9) to 93-9X, Indy's Rock Station. The flip was not unexpected -- Cumulus already owned WYRG, Country WFMS and Classic Hits WJJK, and as a result of its recent acquisition of Entercom's three-station group -- heritage Top 40 WZPL, AC WNTR (107.9 The Mix) and CBS Sports affiliate WXNT-AM, the company ended up with two Pop stations. That awkward situation has now been remedied. The Indianapolis Rock audience can now expect to hear songs from Led Zeppelin, Foo Fighters, AC/DC, Metallica, Nirvana, Guns N' Roses, etc. on the new 93-9X, which will run commercial-free through Memorial Day weekend.

Great move! I see it’s imaging is identical to the highly successful 93X in the Twin Cities. If they program this similarly, this station should do very well!

On another note, only doing commercial free through the weekend? Sheesh, radio companies are pinching pennies as of late, lol.

So are you telling us that it's cookie cutter radio from Cumulus? They own both. Listeners do not like cookie cutter, when they notice. Many notice disadvantages... no time, no temp, little personality, etc. This is seen in perceptuals, yet VP's of Programming and formats, along with PD's, do not change the rules. Strange that they see the research and do nothing.

Stopsetless weekends? We know Cumulus is overflowing with extra money. $hareholders will be pleased. Same for their lender$.

Curiosity. WXQQ "Wausean-Qledo," Q96-9, had an unheard of 18 share for the first couple of months. It was a gay dance Channel. That's one example of curiosity making ratings. Question is, can the ratings be kept up at that level? They rarely are.

With the size of the signal, I don't expect much in ratings.

I can't think of a single station that has had any success whatsoever running The Bert Show. It's an Atlanta show that's struck out practically everywhere else it's been piped in.

MW, it beat K100 and parts for ratings. Gary Shore's was rather scared. And yes it was a gay dance Channel. Rhythmic CHR includes more urban contemporary. There was no Urban contemporary on Q96-9. DRQ had more urban contemporary than Q 96 9.

And for god sakes, would you do something with lovenlife101, who is attacking everybody in the Flint room and in the douchebag Repository, twisting words to become a victim, not to mention going way off topic for way too long? He should have been gone a long while ago. New rules were posted over a month ago. I'm tired of reporting him and not getting results.
