(Great choices btw, Windsor!)

"Lady On The Rock" - Joe Vitale
"Voices" - Russ Ballard
"Catch Me Now I'm Falling", "Low Budget", "Attitude"
and "A Gallon Of Gas" , all by The Kinks
"You Might Recall" - Genesis
"Swept Away" - Sammy Hagar
"Don't Turn Your Back" - Blue Oyster Cult (I don't understand why radio never caught on to this one)
"Jealousys" - Eddie Money (same thing)

I'd also forgotten Touch's "Don't You Know What Love Is"...good call.

A few more picks I would love to hear although I might be going outside of WLLZ wheelhouse a bit too much.

Local and Regional
“Raw Power” or “Lust for Life” The Stooges
“Kick out the Jams“ or “Rambling Rose” MC5
“What I like about You” or “Talking in Your Sleep” Romantics
“Good Times Roll” or “My Best Friends Girl” The Cars
“I Want You to Want Me” or “Dream Police” Cheap Trick
“Love Stinks” or “Ain’t Nothin’ But a House Party” or “Centerfold” or “Freeze-Frame” The J. Geils Band (Really Anything J. Geils)
"96 Beers" The Dick the Bruiser Band (It would be great if they had access to some of the parody songs WLLZ made)

Some Prog Rock Deep Cuts
“Welcome to the Machine” or “Money” Pink Floyd (So many Pink Floyd Deep Cuts to choice from)
“Owner of a Lonely Heart” or “I’ve Seen All Good People” Yes
“Solsbury Hill” or “Games Without Frontiers” Peter Gabriel
“Come Sail Away” Styx
“Another One Bites the Dust” Queen (With a mention that is was the unofficial theme song of the Lions at the beginning of their 1980 season)

Some More Borderline Rock Hits
“Der Kommissar” Falco
“Silent Running” Mike and the Mechanics
“Stand or Fall” or “Red Skies” The Fixx
“Stray Cat Strut” or “Rock This Town” Stray Cats
“She’s a Beauty” The Tubes

Yeah, "Like It Or Not" was one that disappeared quickly, but it's still a great song. I played "You Might Recall" on a station once (off playlist) and although some of the staff gave it a thumbs up, the CD started skipping, so my foray beyond Selector Land was cut short.

How about something from the old WLLZ Motor City Rocks albums? Didn't Artist win a national contest with "Out On The Road Again" over Bon Jovi?

"Secrets" - Van Halen
"Do You Compute" - Donnie Iris
"Love Alive" - Heart
"Ma-Ma-Ma Belle" - Electric Light Orchestra
"Need Your Loving Tonight" - Queen
"Wild Man" - J. Geils Band
"The Dangerous Type" - The Cars
"Love Has Taken Its Toll" - Foreigner
"Line Of Fire" - Journey
"People Of The Southwind" - Kansas
"Miss America" - Styx
"Rumours In The Air" - Night Ranger
"All The Young Heroes" - Gary O.
"Sunday Papers" - Joe Jackson
"Why Me" - Planet P Project
"She Was Hot" - Rolling Stones
(and a lost song in tribute to John Lennon - "Lullaby", by Zebra)

"Fool for a Pretty Face" - Humble Pie
"Big Boy" - Nazareth
"Where's the Party" - Eddie Money
"Knockin at Your Back Door" - Deep Purple

This is the best thread ever! How can I listen to all these songs in one afternoon?!?! - all great choices and few I have heard on WLLZ's 420 deep cut of the day in the last week or so.

A few more and I apologize if they were already mentioned:

SUCH A WOMAN - TYCOON
BACK ON THE ROAD AGAIN - REO SPEEDWAGON
MAMA LET HIM PLAY - DOUCETTE (still a staple in Canada but haven't heard it on an American station since the 80's)
TIGHTROPE - ELO
HOMICIDE - 999
LOCAL GIRLS - GRAHAM PARKER & THE RUMOUR

This isn't really a deep cut thing, but why does WLLZ not have any Iron Maiden in their rotation. I have only heard "Run to the Hills" played as a 420 deep cut on the station. Never heard another song, or seen one on the recently played list. I see almost every other Heavy Metal act be part of the rotation, but not Iron Maiden. It isn't like they only had one popular album or one hit. It is just so odd that both J. Geils Band and Iron Maiden are not part of any rotation, both played heavily in the late 70's and early 80's on Detroit radio, is the program director holding a grudge against these groups?

I've never really heard Iron Maiden on any Detroit Radio station. I always thought the success came through a lot of touring and MTV.

I had thought of "Tightrope" earlier today...good call!

I also like Doucette's song - how about Kim Mitchell's "Lager And Ale", the underplayed "Fits Ya Good" by Bryan Adams, mentioned in the WLLZ thread, "All Over Town" by April Wine, and "Feel It Again" by Honeymoon Suite?

I used to catch Good Rockin' Tonite on CBC and see their CanCon videos, as well as whatever Laser Rock OM Fm or CKLW AM might sneak in, CK's show being "On The Edge", where they'd run 2 minutes of a song (just enough to get the CanCon credit, I guess) and move on.

Nazareth's "Big Boy" and Deep Purple's "Knockin'..." should be brought out now and again - excellent choices.
"Holiday" and "Perfect Strangers" from the same albums are also welcome.

"When The Lady Smiles" - Golden Earring
"Midnite Maniac" - Krokus
"(What's So Funny 'Bout) Peace Love and Understanding - Elvis Costello.

"No Time To Lose" - The Tarney/Spencer Band
"Run Runaway" - Slade
"We Ride Tonight" - The Sherbs (Daft Punk sampled this one in their song "Contact", and did it well)
"People Who Died" - The Jim Carroll Band
I liked "Saturday Night" by Herman Brood & His Wild Romance, but that may not have crossed into Classic Rock territory.

I asked one of the guys in Rhythm Corps about the group's previous name, Rhythm Method - he looked embarrassed, but didn't say much about it.
Did not know that "Contact" sampled this song, thanks for that bit of trivia!
