UB40: Red Red Wine... :barf There was a commercial that way playing that song in the beginning. I didn't realize it was a commercial until I heard it on a station that doesn't play that song.
that commercial drives me nuts.
I actually love the song. It has never gotten old to me.
But that commercial tricks me into thinking it is actually playing. Then I hear the pouring sound and get pissed :lol

Journey:"Dont Stop Believin". I loved it 25 years ago. Now I hear it every day on 3 stations. Neil Schon is a great, underrated guitar player. Steve Perry has excellent pipes. But that song has turned me off of most of their work.
Bon Jovi: "Livin on a Prayer" and "Wanted Dead Or Alive". How much more do we need of these tracks? And its NOT classic rock. And I actually used to own that cd.
Pink Floyd: "Another Brick In The Wall". One of their most boring songs is also one of the most played over the past 30 years.
"I Love Rock And Roll". I love rock and and roll too. I dont love that song after 15,000 spins.
Agreed on all, ESPECIALLY the Bon Jovi and Journey. My girlfriend and I went out this past weekend and while flipping through the dial, we each commented on those bands being overplayed.

Unfortunately, they test well...so they ain't going anywhere :/

Related: WMMQ in Lansing seems to be going a little deeper than the usual warhorses. Tonight, I hearc "The Song Remains the Same" by Zeppelin, and have recently heard Jeff Beck as well. Quite impressed.

Those are super fantastical songs of the 80's! If those aren't to your liking, how about these?

Billy Ocean - Suddenly
Lionel Richie - Ballerina Girl

I didn't say I "Don't like them".
This thread is not about songs we dislike. It is about songs that are way too overplayed on the radio

In this era of #MeToo and #TimesUp,it's a wonder "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" receives ANY airplay, especially with a female singer .

Jon Bon Jovi will be 57 Saturday. He was born Mar. 2,1962,the day Wilt scored 100 as his (then) Philadelphia Warriors beat the New York Knicks ( not today's NIX) 169-147. Actually, the Knicks scored 150 points, but in the hubbub over Chamberlain's century, the Gothamites' last three points were discounted . Thougn I like Jonny Boy's songs (for the most part ), he's among the dudes who deserves the Brady Breaker .

I'll never forget the time in 1984 when I saw this drunken guy at the La Chambres strip club on Telegraph stand up and dance to Caribbean Queen at the edge of the stage, face to face with a very amused dancer.

I've always thought of the song as kind of a feminist challenge, but after rereading the lyrics, she does skirt pretty close to the edge with:

Knock me down, it's all in vain
I get right back on my feet again

But overall I think it's a feminist anthem, especially with that great line "Before I put another notch in my lipstick case..."

But that old song My Man has changed. Most modern singers probably don't sing the line "He beats me too" like Billie Holiday did.

No,because Billie Holiday's partners frequently beat her .(As were my parents,I'm an avid "Lady Day" fan. "Mississippi G***amn" still rings true about your most Third World-like state, doesn't it,boyos ?)

By the way,as a lad,I believe there was a song among whose lyrics were "He hit me,it felt like a kiss." Try getting THAT past 2019 censors ,eh ?

"Don't Stop Believing" is the big one for sure, but all of the Journey hits have grown tired on this guy. They are one of the very, very few (non-modern, of course) artists I simply cannot stand.
