It was nice to see Mario Impemba land on his feet after his controversial exit from Detroit.
It looks like he did all the right things after an awkward job termination—kept his mouth shut, worked his professional network (no pun intended), kept a forward-looking attitude. Now he's been rewarded with a job with the best team in baseball.
Meanwhile, Rod Allen gave a rambling, defensive interview that probably didn't help his future job opportunities:

Mario Impemba's Return to Radio
Re: Mario Impemba's Return to Radio
Say what you want about Mario, but he sure ain't no George Kell.
Re: Mario Impemba's Return to Radio
I never liked either of them. Was glad to see them go. I was a big fan of George Kell and Al Kaline in the booth!

I don't know if you've noticed this, but about 95% of athletes are inarticulate ,so Allen and Craig Monroe are typically language-impaired jocks .
Re: Mario Impemba's Return to Radio
I personally liked Impemba as the Tiger announcer. And I felt Allen wasn't right for the job if you ask me.
It was obvious Allen was often not prepared for the pause that Impemba would leave for Allen's color commentary.
So many times it seems Impemba would have to throw in a quick stat or two because Allen would be asleep at the wheel when he was supposed to be saying something.
