I'm not sure 23 to 94 makes sense when 275 to 94 is an option and probably a good 15 miles shorter. Granted, I'm not sure what is happening construction-wise at the moment along I-75 in the Toledo area.

I'd be very leery of driving 94 eastbound at certain times of the day. During the morning commute, it is a complete disaster until you get past downtown Detroit.

Just checked my map. That does look like a better route. We'll be getting into Detroit around noon.

So I took the 275 - 94 route. That was easy. I might start using that one all the time.

I'm pleased to hear that route worked well for you! :)

How was the rest of the ride back home?

Are the traffic lights well timed on Telegraph Rd? I honestly don't know.

I'd rather drive 80 mph on I-275 & not have to worry about traffic signals, personally.

Is this work still going on? Planning to drive down 75 next month. Coming home from Florida last spring, we used 275 and 94 to get around it. If it's still effecting traffic, I'll use it again..

Whereas, we usually cross at the D/W Tunnel, This time, I'll probably be crossing at The Blue Water Bridge. Due to construction, HWY 401 is down to 1 lane in each direction, for about 30 miles between London and Chatham. Whenever there is an accident, traffic gets stopped for many hours.

I make frequent trips to Toledo. I take 94 to Telegraph to 75. It's pretty easy to time the lights and not skip a beat.

The Rouge River Bridge construction on I-75 is nowhere near finished yet. This is a long term project, TT. The project started almost seven months ago and is 37% complete.

The estimated completion date - when construction first began - was October 2018. I suspect the project will be done a bit ahead of schedule. Hopefully, we have another mild winter. If that happens, it would not surprise me if construction concludes by mid/late summer.

Thanks, Vic. Then I'll do what I did the last time. Cross the border at Sarnia, instead of Windsor and take 94 to 275.

Isn't it easier to cross the Blue Water Bridge than the Ambassador anyway? Also, I'm assuming you prefer not giving Matty Moroun a cent.

I usually like to cross through the D-W Tunnel. It's the quickest.

You're right. I don't like doing business with Matty. When I was still working with the Union I had to deal with a couple of his trucking Companies. I never met him, but even his own managers admit he''s cheap and miserable.

So, we're heading back north in about another week. Is 75 still closed?

Quick answer is yes.

A great deal of information is here:

https://mdotjboss.state.mi.us/MiDriveRe ... nstruction

select Wayne as the county, and I75 as the route. The "I75 total closure" link is the most informative.

Thanks. So it will be 275 to 94.

If you are taking the Blue Water, I'd go 275 to 696 to 94 and avoid Detroit altogether.

Major construction starts on 696 in Macomb County and far eastern Oakland County (Madison Heights, Warren, Center Line, Roseville) later this month. Westbound will be closed entirely; eastbound will have lane restrictions.
