Christmas creep

Post by bmw » Tue Oct 10, 2017 9:41 pm

The holiday season starting earlier and earlier every year has really gotten out of control.

I channel past QVC and see them selling Christmas lights, trees, and decorations. IT'S OCTOBER 10TH.

Then you have Black Friday starting earlier and earlier, soon to just be Black November.

I'm really fed up with the ever-increasing commercialization of Christmas. All about the almighty dollar.

We've been in Florida for the past two weeks. The outdoor temps are in the 90s every day but, inside the stores, it's Christmas. Trees, lights, music. It's obscene.

Went into Walmart to get something from the yard and Patio department. It's gone. They removed all the regular merchandise and filled it with Christmas.

Yup...

In Houston right now. Went into a Walmart to buy a large pack of AAA's and had to walk by a Christmas Tree display. Not even all that close to Halloween and we are treated to Christmas merchandise. Can in be long before someone flips to all Christmas music

Was in Home Depot with the wife and in laws. My Mother In Law is trying to convince us to get an artificial Christmas Tree and sure enough a whole section of displays. We went for a washer and dryer instead and avoided it for now...

Wife was in one of her women's shops today. She said the staff were greeting all the customers with "Merry Christmas."

Happy, or unhappy, whichever you prefer, generic, secular Holiday.

In a brilliant piece of marketing, Pottery Barn, has located a new store right across the street from the Harbor Freight store here. Now, the women can shop till they drop in the Pottery Barn, while the old man shops at Harbor Freight.

Yesterday, after I was finished my shopping, I went across the street to fetch my wife. As soon as I stepped inside the door of Pottery Barn, I could hear the sounds of Christmas music wafting through the store.

I get it... you want a focus on Thanksgiving instead of Christmas because you’re a turkey looking for a pardon... nice try.

Hey. My Thanksgiving is already over. It was Oct. 9. We had a ham. Too hot in Florida to light up the oven for a turkey.

I like the idea of an earlier Thanksgiving ala Canada... it makes the Christmas creep easier to tolerate...

Christmas Creep?

Here is the tread mascot. Most certainly "The Christmas Creep."

Personally, I think he posts often in the Poll Pot section.
