Syncing the cameras to the background screens

The technical side of broadcasting. Think IBOC is a sham? Talk about it here! How about HDTV? Post DX reports here as well.

Syncing the cameras to the background screens

Post by In The Bleachers » Wed Oct 25, 2017 4:47 pm

I think this question is going to be more a tutorial for me, but just asking.

I remember back many years ago, that the TV stations couldn't point a camera at a TV screen because the screen would jump around. And they fixed it by syncing the sweeps. Most (if not all) news stations now have the monster monitors in the background. So my question is simple. In this day and age of digital TV's and digital cameras, is that still any sort of issue that needs to be dealt with? I realize the answer to my question may seem old school, but I'm not in the industry in any way. Just curious.
