A 587-mile trip for a Point aux Barques bandscan (quick overview / highlights) --

From bandscan road trip #2 in the past month, the first of the two being a 559-mile loop to Lake Huron (a detailed Tawas City scan, quick Alpena scan as there wasn't much there, and a detailed Harbor View scan) and this one on Sunday being a 587-mile loop to the Thumb, 370 miles to my bandscan destination.

While there were many signals received, here are just a few of the more usual signals that were in well, largely leaving out the Northern Michigan ones that are even more typical like KHQ, The Promise, Lite, etc. None of these really surprised me, though the place I picked had poor conditions compared to just to the south, but as the sun started setting, things quickly picked up and the stations that were absent at my location but were strong just to the south finally made their appearance, making this trip, like the last one, well worthwhile, though all stations heard were within 275 miles.

Stations heard are from Point aux Barques, Michigan (between Port Austin and Port Hope), just a smidgen outside the London local market, which covers much of the Thumb with local signals, same with Bay City / Saginaw, and Tawas, all just far enough away to make things tolerable but still strong enough to be in stereo. There are three locals here, two stations on seek, and no IBOC.

The bandscan, along with the three from a few weeks ago will be released in the next month. A scan at the far northern point of Lake Huron and from the eastern shore near Parry Sound are already floating about online and can be found here as well. This is just a very brief overview of what was heard, so expect the four full scans to appear here in the next month or so.

So far this morning, WEWS and WGGN were coming in...but so is WSYX, which I haven't gotten since early last year.

Interesting radio conditions the last two days.

Last night I had WLXT, WTCM, and WCCW briefly come in over WDVD, WMUZ, and WGPR respectively. Then this morning I had 92.9 Dayton and 93.3 Columbus in at the same time as WWKR
