Bruce Crossing Bandscan

Post by cckadlec » Sat Apr 08, 2017 1:52 pm

Here's a bandscan from Bruce Crossing, which is between Ironwood and Marquette. Conditions were more or less dead at the time and the weather was... marginal, but not a lot of change in reception from one place to another in that area, mostly just the same stations at varying levels of strength. It's just a basic bandscan, as opposed to the other more detailed ones I take. Reception quality in the car is measured at in, good, very good, or perfect, though perfect may be a signal lacking static that would measure at just 2 or 3dBu strength on the portable radio, so the in-car measurements relate to signal quality, not signal strength as in my detailed scans. As usual, " * " indicates the station is received on seek.

WHWL has a translator on 98.1 in Victoria (whose stick is on a hill between Ontonagon and Ewen), so it was likely that being heard instead of WEUL.

Also no WGLI?

You, fine sir, have brought up an excellent question. WGLI is indeed in this bandscan noted as perfect. I seem to have simply missed it while typing it out. And kudos on the Victoria translator. You're correct on that as well. Like I said, it was a basic bandscan (a whole 5 minutes on this one), but I still pride my bandscans on being very accurate nonetheless, so I appreciate the corrections! :) I'll have to make those corrections in my list and then edit the original post.

I thought 98.7 WGLI originated from Baraga?

EDIT: Further investigation shows that I was incorrect. That would explain why we have such a hard time receiving them reliably down by the Wisconsin border.
