Most distant AM/FM/TV signal you ever tuned in?
Re: Most distant AM/FM/TV signal you ever tuned in?
for ZenithCKLW; , there are a lot of new AM stations operating at night on the old "clear chnnels' and that can block reception from the old AM DX prizes. The FCC rules only give the "clear channel" stations interference proterction out to 750 miles today !

I haven't heard KFI since WOI lit a two-tower array with 1KW (about 3KW ERP in my direction) at night.ZenithCKLW wrote: ↑Thu Mar 28, 2019 6:15 pmI can’t seem to ever receive anything but static on 640, and I consider myself pretty well trained to listen for signals under the static. I feel like KFI is the gold standard for DXing in Metro Detroit. Once I can receive that, I’ll achieve my goal.
So my (rhetorical) question is, what am I doing wrong? Why can’t I get KFI? I’ve received 17 watt stations from Tennessee from Livonia on the transoceanics, but KFI still escapes me.
(Exception - when my wife and I were on vacation in NV, UT, AZ and CA).

I don't mean to brag, but I just put a puzzle together in 1 day and the box said 2-4 years.

Thanks for sharing Turkeytop. Didn't know those QSL stamps still existed into the 1960's, thought it was years before that?

Worked with an old guy who had QSL'd KFI back in the 1930s. They had the very same stamp. Maybe they still use it.

Were you Wiarton Willy? LOL
Ask not what your country can do FOR you; ask what they are about to do TO YOU!!

Picked up 95.7 KEZJ from Twin Falls, ID on Thursday night with "Taste of Country Nights". Over 1,400 miles! I also picked up a few Idaho Falls/Pocatello stations at around 1,300 miles (89.5 KLRI, 93.9 KZBQ, 96.1 KWFI, 97.3 KLCE)

Today while driving in to ludington from Fountain /Freesoil area Lubbock Texas was booming in on my car radio. Was listening to kmmx 100.3
Re: Most distant AM/FM/TV signal you ever tuned in?
I would've gotten it (along with several other TX panhandle stations) if I weren't in Grand Rapids, which has a boat load of translators and IBOC
Re: Most distant AM/FM/TV signal you ever tuned in?
My new GM radio only searches for the next strong station on the dial. Doesn't allow tuning incrementally, one channel at a time.

Re: Most distant AM/FM/TV signal you ever tuned in?
This must be a season of intense e-skip. Yesterday WDZH 98.7 was wiped out by KLUV-FM 98.7 from Dallas Ft. Worth - a distance of somewhere between 1,200 and 1,300 miles. This is probably my farthest FM catch. I received this on accident in my truck along I-94 south of Port Huron - no big/high antennas necessary.
In Port Huron, I was also having trouble receiving WDVD, as another pop station was clearly capturing 96.3 (it wasn't adjacent channel interference). Any ideas what that could have been?

I was wrong about that. Spent some time today with the radio and the user manual. You can tune it incrementally. There isn't a knob, it's just one function on the touch screen. There is also an on screen, virtual keypad for direct frequency entry.
