In all your years of Dxing what is the most memorable E skip? How long did it last and what is the farthest you have received? The most memorable for me was June 30th, 2007. I remember that day the skip started around Noon actually and it lasted till I bet 7:00 that evening. When it started I was picking up Lousiana stations then as the day wore on Texas stations were coming in then as it was coming to an end I was picking up New Mexico! That was memorable. I remember once in December maybe 2007 as well where I was driving to work and stations from Europe were coming in. I live in Escanaba Michigan in the U.P. by the way. It lasted for 10 minutes then it was gone. I want to hear everyone's most memorable.

Living in Allendale, MI at the time, TV wise I watched KOB-TV, channel 4 from Albequerque (can't spell the stupid name), New Mexico for about 30 minutes at 2 in the morning in late August of '76. For 20 of those minutes it was strong enough to reach full quieting levels of the video and the audio.

For FM radio it was a early afternoon episode in the Summer of 1989 where FM stations from Montana, Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas were all piling on, sharing the stage, going back and forth. That was what I'd call my most stunning FM broadcast dx observance.

AM wise, it has to be KFI 640, Los Angeles almost every night starting at around 3am, pre-1977. Before the rules changed and the FCC filled the band up.

The 2 that I liked the most:
1) Listening 10 miles west of Cheboygan. June 1982. Started picking up Magic 95 (94.7) Detroit on my Marantz. It started to fade out and another station came in on the same frequency. It was WLS FM Chicago. Listened to both for about 45 minutes. Next day same thing happened with 96.3 WHYT (Hot Hits) Detroit. 20 minutes later 96.3 WBBM (Hot Hits) Chicago came in for about 15 minutes. My 4 favorite stations at the time.

1) 1998 Driving south on I-95 between Wilmington and Baltimore listening to 93.3 WMMR Philadelphia. They fade out and 93.3 WFLZ Tampa came in complete with the top hour I.D. Listened for about 5 minutes.

I picked up Cheyenne, WY and Pueblo, CO on Ch 5 back in the 1970's and ZBM-FM Hamilton, Bermuda in 1980.

I used to live in Farmington Hills back in 1980 and one afternoon the E skip got so strong WJBK was getting interfered with only about 10 miles away from their tower. It was so widespread that they made a courtesy announcement, mentioning atmospheric conditions were causing interference. They must have received a lot of calls and someone there was smart enough to know what was happening.

Also, one year vacationing in Panama City Beach, FL I could make out the WDIV Local 4 logo making it through the interference of the local Ch 4, which actually transmitted from about 50 miles to the north, so I assume they have had a number of problems with E skip interference during the skip season.

This should be a great summer for E-skip, though it is getting late in the season. High ceiling tropo will soon come though, bringing in a lot of analog Canadian stations.

Picking up WUHF-FM from Texas on my (at the time) brand new HD radio - AND getting their HD2 and HD3 signals! Lasted only about 90 seconds, but audio and display clear as a bell.
Found out it is a 100KW station in Texas after looking it up.

AM, it's KOA Denver back in their 'Orange Crush" days.

On VHF, DX'd NOAA weather radio stations from Illinois back when 'real' people were on the air, before 'perfect Paul' so you could tell different stations by the meteorologists voices.
