Favourite SXM Channels

Post by Turkeytop » Sun May 14, 2017 9:37 pm

So, what are your favourite SXM channels. If you're like me, you pay for all the channels but just listen to the same few all the time.

The following list are my favourites, not necessarily in any order.

118 MSNBC

119 Bloomberg Radio

120 BBC World Service

122 NPR Now

124 POTUS

59 Willies Roadhouse

70 Bluesville

71 Siriusly Sinatra

76 Symphony Hall

XM69 Escape: (the old WJOI)

XM7: 70's on 7 for only AT40, as the Voicetrack is crap since then fired all the XM live jocks.

XM32: The Bridge, for soft rock, aka WNIC 25 years ago

XM59: Willie's Roadhouse= WCXI in it's heyday, with WSM thrown-in; miss Country Dan Dixon (RIP)

XM18: Soon to be Beatles' channel starting next week- all the other single artist channels are bandwidth wasters, IMO.

XM120: BBC W.S. when shortwave isn't nearby.

XM xxx; whatever MLB channel is broadcasting the frustrating Tiger's game since Toledo has NO Tiger's OTA service since Cumulus' ignorance killed WLQR-AM 1470 and the Tiger's Baseball Network in T-Town (96.1 is not receivable and not in the DMA as far as I'm concerned) 97.1 and 1270 do not present acceptable signals south of the border.

Good luck finding BBC on short wave any more. If you're lucky, at 3:00 AM you might catch a stray signal intended for the far east. Mustn't let them know you heard it, or they'll shut it down

The only one of your honourable mentions that would make my list of honourable mentions is Watercolours.

All of your favourites would be on my list of dishonourable mentions. :razz

11 & 12 and CC/iHeart - bleaah
66 is not offensive in any way to any listeners.
25, 26, 27 were quite good 10 years ago, not so much now.
Guess that's why there's 69 music channels, as everyone has diverse tastes.
If they'd ever combine their bandwidth from both services into one block, they could really make us happy with a more than double high-quality audio, and probably even add a few more stations back OTA that are online only; but then again, they have to STOP putting the crappy Sirius radio in cars so that they can start a 4-year transition to an XM-based across the board codec.

53 Chill
52 Electric Area
51 BPM
50 The Groove
70 BBKing's Bluesville
67 Real Jazz
14 Coffee House
42 The Joint (Reggae)
34 Lithium
95 Comedy Central

Really liked 55 Utopia (now "The Garth Channel"), which became 341 online only right after I got SXM in the car.

Some cars do have channel 341, and several other 300 channels, on their SiriusXM radio (my 2014 Jeep has it and so does my sister's 2015 Audi)

CH 68 - Spa (New Age) :barf

I'll bet the channel doesn't even have one listener.

37 - Octane
34 - Lithium
38 - Ozzy's Boneyard
40 - Liquid Metal
314 - Turbo
9 - 90's on Nine
10 - Pop2K
4x - Backspin (cannot remember exact channel number)
66 - Watercolors

80% of my satellite radio listening is devoted to the first four channels on my list.
Radio station web sites that do not offer music logs or at least a "songs recently played" list are stupid.

Tried The Beatles Channel for a while today. The audio quality is really bad. Sounds like the cheap, transistor radios we listened to them on, back in the day.

It isn't exclusively Beatles. There are also unknown performers doing covers of Beatles songs.

I drive ALOT for my job so this is what I'm primarily listening to:

103 - Faction Talk (only for Opie Radio 3-6pm and Nick Dipalo 6-8pm)
34 - Lithium
38 - Ozzy's Boneyard
37 - when it is Turbo Takeover - listened to it non stop when it was on for 2 weeks - I listen to Turbo online at home
25 - Classic Rewind
26 - Classic Vinyl
18 - Beatles Channel

Secondary channels when I can't find something I like playing or when a song / artist I have on AutoTune comes on:

8 - 80's on 8
7 - 70's on 7
9 - 90's on 9
27 - Deep Tracks
33 - 1st wave
37 - Octane
39 - Hair Nation
40 - liquid metal
41 - Faction
Not an optimist or pestimist, but a realist on life

There is a free period going on now. Good through the end of the month I believe. It's a two week event and only learned about it a few days ago. I would sign up but I have read about the horror stories and I don't care for their business practices. However, I do enjoy Hair Nation, Prime Country, and 80's on 8.
