Re: WJYM is back on.

If WJYM is half a million, what was the actual retail value of WPAY swap-out for the out of market translator?

Re: Frank Beckmann in hospice care

This does make 59-1/2 look more like the age to retire, while you can still do stuff without stroking-out 4x. RIP Frank.
Doesn't matter if you were a fan or not, he paid his dues in radio for the once Great Voice of the Great Lakes sports department.

Re: WJYM is back on.

I'm surprised at how well their 106.9 FM translator is doing in Toledo from Lime City. Probably the best translator in town after 94.9, and it seems to cover almost better than SPDy's 92.9FM.

Re: 1520 anyone?

Ben Zonia, thanks for the nice rounded coverage maps that much more jagged than they appeared. I was amazed at page 27 of the WTTO antenna proof, what a cluster. Heck, numbers weren't even close, and this was a one tower daytime...I can't imagine the cluster for the 6 nite towers. Pretty cute how Da...

Re: 1520 anyone?

I'll be happy to take 1520. They have the newest towers (less 1 at 730) and newest AM hardware in the market, AFAIK?

Re: Upcoming changes to The Toledo radio dial?

106.9 was installed during the past 12 months as a translator for Jimmy "I Have Sinned" Swigert's 730AM, WJYM (We're JimmY's Ministry). FM signal makes it up to the Maumee River in Toledo pretty well. Better than most actually considering it's isolated off the AM and not on the overloaded tower on W...

Re: Amy Andrews wearing a ring

Got no complaints for a just-turned 46 year-old, but she should have left her 'original equipment' in place and not let someone tinker with her pretty face. I thought she was married to Principal Rodney and they have like a 12-year-old daughter? Bigger surprise is that she's a Spec's graduate!

1520 anyone?

So...what is taking so long to get the two FM translators of WPAY up and running? Or, why don't the new owners of WPAY at least keep the AM transmitter running on 1520 so it doesn't freeze-up and use it as a 'billboard' for the station? On an unrelated topic, actually saw a billboard with a giant 10...

Re: London Mitchell laid off

FU*K Cumulus. This is not the first decent employee that they laid-off 2 or 3 years BEFORE THEY wanted to retire; Cumulus made the decision for them. No ill will, my ass. I talked to a jilted Cumulus employee and he expressed his wish of their towers collapsing to the ground during an ice storm. All...

Re: List Of Airports Requiring 5G Buffer Zone

The graph I saw on TV basically showed that NONE of these services had any kind of a decent FILTER to keep their signal in their own band, since 5G is the last to the party, they should be forced to have a narrow cavity filter to keep their signal the hell out of the aircraft altimeters. Likewise, s...

Re: Another Radio

I think I'm going to have to make a new treatment center: The Betty Marconi Clinic, where most of us need to go to reduce our insatiable radio appetites! Naw, the XYL might bitch about us havingradios all-over hell's half acre, but hey at least they know where we're at, we're not getting into troubl...

Re: FCC Urged To Allow Technical Change That Would Improve FM’s Digital Coverage.

Nothing to see here...Leonard "Lawsuit" Kahn had his "Powerside" that took his ISB AM Stereo system and dumped most of it into one sideband, which did work on analog radios, but digital, I would think not so much? It's a shame Leonard had to be such a litigating arse, as AM radio could have made a p...

Re: Downriver AM transmitters

Not quite downriver, but made a trip up in the dark last week to Twelve Oaks Mall, and like a moth, was attracted to the slowly flashing 320 Watt red beacons of an antenna array behind the mall. What station(s) utilize the towers visible from the mall in Novi?

Re: Put up a 5 ele FM beam feeding a Sony XDR-F1HD

So about $100-$200 to get an FM Yagi. Question, still horizontal polarization best since most stations are circular? I recall some old tyme stations having 50KW Horizontal and 30KW Vertical? STill the case?
