Re: Global Sarnia-Oil Springs
Global was not carried in the Free Press TV listings in the '80s, although CKCO 42 was. IIRC, it had a similar footprint in Michigan both OTA and cable. CHBX 2 (still in analog) has never been on cable in the Michigan Sault (although it was at one time carried in Newberry and Rogers City). CJIC 5 (...

Re: Global Sarnia-Oil Springs
Global has by far the largest remaining translator network in Canada, all of whom are in digital. They are the only OTA TV service in several Canadian cities

I read the article and it appears that she had a long criminal and mental health history. It also says that she used a male name briefly, along with a few other names.

Re: Toby Keith dies
He was dominant in country music in the 2000s decade. After some doldrums in the late 1990s (four straight singles missing the top 10, in part due to his then-label's issues), he went on a hot streak with 25 top 10 singles in the 2000s decade, including 16 number ones.

WTCM-FM is technically a rimshot as its tower is outside of the newly adjusted market boundaries!

Re: 9&10 is such a mess right now
I think after a while when a business holds a dominance for a period of time, they start to ride on that "name" and then slack off on production. In the case of a small market with only two channels competing against each other for ratings, it won't make much of a difference. But I agree, it's quit...

Re: Channel 7 provides fake traffic detour to avoid WB M-59 accident
Assuming the accident was west of the Dequindre on-ramp, Dobry Dr / South Blvd to Rochester Rd should have been the proper alternate route in this scenario

Re: It's time to move on from Juwan Howard
When I first heard of McDaniel's suspension, I was wondering if it was for something unrelated to academics (such as legal issues that aren't severe enough to warrant immediately being kicked off the team, with a condition being that he can't leave Washtenaw County)

Re: New Years Eve shooting inside Walmart in shithole Grand Rapids suburb
This Walmart is near the Wyoming - Rentwood border. Kentwood lacks a Walmart of its own. Isn't 131 the boarder? That far South is higher crime? I thought south of 44th was where the rednecks lived. Division (which was US-131 prior to the freeway being built) is the border. Fun fact: Going south alo...

Re: Open Letter to The Grateful Dead Station
Rumor has it that another silent group of stations will institute an all Moby Grape format, which will debut one morning soon at 8:05. Another rumor has it that the other silent group is a pile of dysfunction and have a greater chance of losing yet more licenses to the FCC. The only way to top The ...

Re: You Wolvies hearing anything about Dug?
Some rumors that Dug McDaniel is in some trouble, not clear what the deal is. Either injury or more than likely academic. As far as I can get, it sounds like he might be academically ineligible next semester, beginning Jan 8. That's the end of the Michigan season if true. Betting McNeese +10 tonigh...

This might be the first time this has happened since WMQF was the FOX affiliate (or maybe the first couple of years of WLUC-DT2 being FOX before the grandfather clause allowing WLUK to be seen on cable expired)

Re: 98.9 is being sold
It seems like WCSG 91.3 was the first NCE-FM band station in the Grand Rapids Area to get a substantial ERP. By the time they applied, WKZO-TV was considered to be the CBS station in the market, and WJIM-TV 6 only had marginal viewership. That and the fact that 91.3 is near the upper edge of the NC...

Re: Ratings Day in Toledo
A new record for 105.5! Congrats to them on their 1.1 share! It takes incredible skill to lose by a half share to a country station from Tiffin! By the way, the crappy Dallas station on which Q105 is modeled is allegedly flipping to a simulcast of 820 WBAP on January 3. https://radioinsight.com/rat...
